I was wondering if anyone out there knows about U of virginia spring transfer rates. The website says about 500 transfer for the fall and that there are limited (about 30) spots open for the spring. Keep in mind that only the College of Arts and Sciences takes spring transfers.
My question: as an out of state student applying for the spring, are my chances virtually zero? I have no idea how many people apply.

Out of State transfers do have a chance at spring admissions, but it is hard and really depends on what year you are now, how well you're doing, your ecs, and how much of the prereq classes you have finished. If you give more information about yourself, I'm sure someone can advise you of what they think your chances are. Also if you haven't, email the transfer dean at UVA, he will give you straight answers to your questions. I'm not sure what his email address is but you can find it on the virginia site, his name is greg roberts. He's the most helpful by far.

I am not sure of the chances but UVA takes significantly less transfers in the spring. Also, virginia residents do not receive preference in the transfer process and UVA looks highly at college gpa. If you have over a 3.8 you have a great shot of getting in.

Good luck!

on the contrary...Va residents DO get priority in all admissions (though substantially less when you're factoring in post-undergrad schools)

Thanks for the info. My problem with credits is that I may have too many. I unconventionally applying after 2 and a half years becasue I realised that the subject I want to pursue (public economics) is not taught at my university. I have all the pre-req classes except maybe one semester of a language and a semester of a lab science (one of my sciences is a mixture of different sciences that is unique to my university). Anyone, I e-mailed the dean today.
Thanks for the info.

lookin, what did the dean have to say?
