Completed freshmen year at Seton Hall University Business school. I am going to apply for spring transfer to the following business programs.

College Park, Maryland
NYU Stern
Universiy of Virginia

G.P.A.: 3.78
Leadership Honors Program
Investment Banking internship in nyc
Big scholarship
From New York

I transferred to UVA, but was also admitted to UMD, so I consider myself pretty knowledgeable of the process at both schools. What are your SAT scores? Virginia will want them and they should be pretty high. I’m not sure what school you will apply to, as you want to enter in the spring. So you may end up applying to the College of Arts and Sciences and then apply to the B-School for the fall of your 3rd year. Be aware that the acceptance rate for spring is much lower than that for fall (around 10% I believe).

As for UMD, SAT scores will not matter nor will HS as you have more than 30 credits. You stand a good chance there, however you may not be directly admitted to Smith. Instead you may be admitted to Letters and Sciences so that you can complete pre-reqs and then apply to Smith.

I really don’t know much about NYU other than the fact that Stern is very difficult to transfer to.

Good luck!

My sat was not good in high school I had like 93 unweighted avg and like 1100 but i didnt try at all. I mean I know uva long shot or whatever but im more looking into maryland, the place is so sweet. Also, what about Villanova, penn state, FSU or U Florida… just wondering. Thanks man. I’m just looking for a better college experience you know. what were your stats transfering to UMD?

Yeah I really do think you have a good shot at UMD. I was instate and would’ve gone there had I not gotten good financial aid from UVA. I really have no idea about the other schools, but think that UMD is your best bet! It’s an awesome school! All my friends love it!

My Stats:
HS GPA: 3.7
College GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1250/1600, 1940/2400

Pretty sure that UMD looks mostly at numbers

Also for UMD, make sure that you have completed a transferrable English and math course! This is very important! I have known people to get rejected for this reason! Go to their website and find out which courses transfer!

anyone else have any comments. Thank you
