my dream school was columbia and i got rejected by them originally. now i am thinking of applying to other schools to transfer from bu. but i am thinking of transferring for spring semester rather than waiting for fall? is that a wise choice? this limits my choice of transfer schools because not everyone does spring...but i dont want to waste time somewhere where i am not happy
...i am wondering whether i should wait to do fall transfer....work on my grades and recommendations...and then apply to columbia and other schools that have fall transfer and try to get in.
i will be a sophmore at bu in the fall...this would mean that two years of my life would be here and two years at my new school (if i get in, of course). which means no study abroad for me and it would be harder ot fulfill all requirements in the two years i would have if they wont count all the stuff i already have.

what should i do? ...as the old cliched song goes - SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO? (spring or fall???)

That really depends on how much do you think you can handle it and are u willing to risk it all for columbia...

i have a similar question....which is more competitve spring or fall transfers?

spring is always more competitive than fall. Fall always has more spaces available; while spring has less.

what schools are you interested in that have spring transfer availability?

nyu and northwestern

ummm no thats not true.... spring is less competitives... and i know this for a fact. there are less applicants for spring semester, but there are less spaces. but overall i suggest applying in the spring better chance. i got into maryland in the spring, but decided to stay at my CCC for another semster.

i think most places let you apply for both fall and spring spots, if you want to. this will increase your chances. but this usually means applying for the next fall and the spring after that. i dont think columbia lets you apply for spots in the spring of a current school year, so you would probably have to wait to transfer until fall 07.

I disagree with the spring thing abe...where are ya getting that info? I'm pretty sure spring transfer slots are extremely limited at most schools.

from what i've heard, spring = harder

you really can apply for both terms and stop worrying about gaming the system.

spring is more competitive @ all schools; including the lesser known schools like Loyola Marymount, when i spoke with admissions, they told me that about 500 applied and only 5 were accepted, you can also see this yourself @ collegeboard.com
