I just heard about a cadet getting a medical turnback. I know how I felt so I am assuming this could be scary or saddening to the other members of the squadron. How is this handled? Do the cadre do anything like giving a pep talk to the rest? Is it something that I should address in my letters to my cadet or leave it alone?
The information technology is both a blessing and a burden. Web Guy and this forum has been my lifeline to my S since he left.
I have been fortunate to get a positive letter from my son and have seen him in two pictures and on the orientation video but anxious to receive another letter. I think I will be joining the other moms in stalking the postal deliverer.

They really never said a word to us whenever anyone left, much less a pep talk. I wouldn't really worry about saying anything in letters either. It's just another part of Basic.

Last year there were 61 turnbacks I believe. I also recall that being a record high.

61 may be the total number who left BCT last year. Not all of those were turnbacks. The year before, I'm pretty sure there were 22 medical turnbacks and ALL of them returned for the class of 2011. Unfortunately, I think there was a story of one who got turned back the second time by breaking the identical wrist he broke the year before. Then, as I understand it, he broke a second wrist (thankfully God only gives us two) by tripping over something in his room before he outprocessed.
