SquashBusters

I really want to start going to the gym, but I really don't have much gym experience. I'm planning on starting to go to SquashBusters (never been to Marino and that's pretty far from my dorm compared to SquashBusters). I'm just wondering how it works haha Is SB upstairs in that building? Do you swipe in somewhere? Am I supposed to go to the locker room first? (I'm planning on going straight from my dorm and straight back to my dorm so I don't think I would need to go to a locker room.) Do you have to sign up to use a machine? As of right now, I'm hoping to go before class every day at around 9:45 or 10. Is it busy around this time? If I can't go in the mornings, I'll probably end up going at around 8 or 9 or 10 (which I'm assuming is a lot busier). When's the best time to go?

Also, what kinds of machines do they have? Do they have ellipticals? If so, how many? Do they have TVs on them like the ones in IV?

Oh and regarding gym etiquette, you're suppose to wipe down the machines with a towel after you're done with them correct? Also, is it okay to use a machine for like an hour or is there some sort of time limit people usually observe?

I'm a girl by the way (not that it matters haha). Just want to start doing some cardio (not really interested in weightlifting or anything like that). Stupid questions, I know... Just don't want to look like too much of an idiot in there haha

Any time in the morning should be reasonably quiet–the time to avoid the gyms is about 4-8pm when it’s super crowded.

When you walk in to squashbusters, there’s a desk to your left where you swipe in using your husky card. Then take a right and you’ll see an elevator and stairs. They gym in squash busters is on the 4th floor (2nd is the squash courts, 3rd is locker rooms), and if you don’t need a locker just go straight to the 4th and the gym is right there. Nice to wipe the machine when you’re done with it, but otherwise there isn’t a whole lot of gym etiquette that you need to worry about.

SB is a pretty small gym but it’s really nice (and has sick city views). The machines are mostly ellipticals and treadmills. I thhhink the treadmills have TVs but the ellipticals don’t… there are TVs set up in the gym itself though. If you ever need to use the locker room (there’s a sauna in there!!) you just go to the 3rd floor desk, give them your husky card and they give you a lock. You can also rent magazines at the 3rd floor.

haha Don’t be ashamed at all. I avoided squashbusters for two years because I honestly didn’t know where the door was.

Thanks for the step-by-step instructions Emily-- that’s exactly what I was looking for haha Greatly appreciated.

haha neuchimie, that’s essentially how I was all fall semester, so I’m trying to suck it up, face my fears, and go for it this semester!
