this is probably an odd question but, do most people use a brita filter for water, buy water bottles or get water bottles when they go to the dining halls?

do you have to pay to use the gym in IV if you live there? how about the marino center? how much is it? and how to do you get membership?

i believe the tour guide at NEU, last time I visited, said that at NEU, there are either classes on M, W, and TR, or on T and F. can someone explain that in detail?

does anyone know what size the rooms in IV are? i haven't seen the room and i'd like to get an idea of how much room i'll have..

what kind of furniture are you allowed to bring? what aren't you allowed to bring?

IV is only accessible to IV residents, but it’s free. Marino and Squashbuster’s (columbus ave) are open to everyone and are also free. The only fees you’d have to pay would be for fitness classes if you wanted to take them.

The most common class schedules are MWTh or TF, like your tour guide said. MWTh classes are 65 minutes, and held at 8am, 9:15, 10:30, 11:45, 1:30, 4:30 (right? I’m in co-op mode and rusty). TF classes are an hour 40mins. There are a few other class schedules, but they’re more for upper level courses (such as 3 hour seminars).

Your schedule will depend on your major. I think it’s pretty standard to do 3 classes on MWTh, and then 1 class on TF. Some people try to have all their classes on MWTh so they have TF off, but a lot of people prefer to spread out their classes… 4 classes in one day is kind of rough.

1) Everybody I know who has a fridge has a brita too. It’s definitely useful and was the first thing I bought for my off-campus apartment.

3) There’s also Monday/Wednesday classes but they’re rarer.

5) You generally can’t bring any furniture and RAs will tell you to remove it if you don’t hide it when they inspect. You can generally have plastic drawers though for storage.

I loved having a Brita filter second semester in IV. Cut down on my water bottle usage a whole lot. (Dining halls don’t have water bottles, btw. And you’re technically not allowed to fill Nalgene and other reusable bottles with water in the dining halls.)

Monday/Thursday is also possible.

I think they’re about the same size as all the other freshmen dorms (sorry, I don’t have dimensions). The only thing is that the sink is in the dorm room in IV (for the most part-- some rooms do have the sink in the bathroom). I did notice that in Stetson West at least, the room seemed wider and more open. Our room in IV was pretty narrow.

What kind of furniture are you looking to bring? As the others said, it’s technically not allowed for the most part. But you can usually get away with it (and possibly have to hide it during room checks).

I think it was like 8ft x 20 ft or something around that. I remember my roommate and I were trying to figure out how big the room is when we were deciding whether to stay on campus or move off campus. It’s definitely very narrow.

My son got a corner room overlooking Tremont. Are the corner rooms any different - bigger or smaller. We did notice the window faces out onto tremeont making it on the long wall and not the short wall opposite the door. Does anyone have dimensions of the closet specifically the three short shelves on the right?

I had a corner room in IV facing Tremont…the corner rooms are huge rooms. They’re definitely much bigger than the other rooms on the floor. I don’t know the specific closet dimensions, but I had 4 shelves going down on the right side of the closet and each shelf could hold around 3-4 folded sweatshirts stacked on top of each other…hope that helps.

They aren’t allowed, but they aren’t allowed to move or touch anything during room checks so you just stash it under your bed during the room check week.

Those are fine, but the ones that hang over the door scrapes the paint off the top.
If you get a normal mirror don’t stick it on the bathroom door, it’ll fall.

Yeah and depending on the type of hook for the ‘over the door’ ones, the door won’t close. My roommate and I bought a cheap floor length one and then set it on some books by the window in the middle of the room.
