Hi, UT! I have highly considered staying on and off campus, but I think SRD will be a great place because of the home-like environment. There are many room options at SRD. From what I hear, many girls live in a regular double - I plan to do the same. Was the amount of space sufficient for you? Also, is/was it ever inconvenient for you if you had a class in the middle or south end of campus? Thank you for your help!

My daughter lived at SRD in a regular double and loved it. You can’t bring very much stuff so just keep it really tight. I would even consider just bringing one jacket and a sweater and getting the rest on Thanksgiving break once you know what you really use. Be sure to go to Breed & Co and get some bed risers. That will give you a ton of extra room under your bed. Don’t buy the ones at Bed Bath & Beyond, they break and don’t support the bed well. The ones at Breed are made from 4" PVC and are very strong. You can even call a week before move in and pay for them over the phone to ensure you get a set.

As far as distance to class, she never complained about it all. She even walked to the games with no issue. Are you entering the class of 2014? If so I would have to assume you already have signed and sent in your contact. I would think contracts went out early this week. I actually drove my daughter’s up the day we received it and I know the wait list started the Monday after they went out so be sure to send it overnight if you still have it in your hand. (and send it tomorrow!!)

@collegeshopping, that is extremely helpful. Thank you! And yes, I am a senior in high school this year. Thank you for the tip. I overnighted my contract the day it came out and they were very prompt in responding back. Another question: On-campus housing provides microfridges with microwaves for each room, but SRD stated in the contract that they do not allow any cooking appliances. Does this mean no microwaves in our rooms?

@texaspride. You can have a frig but not a microwave. But there is a microwave down at the kitchen that you have access to 24/7. There is coffee and stuff down there too. During finals, there are also other snacks and goodies for that 10 day period. My daughter lived on the first floor and really liked that she has easy access to the kitchen, pool and fitness center. It also makes move in easier because the elevator will be VERY backed up that day. So you might want to call and make that request if you have not already.

@collegeshopping, to clarify, you can call and request to be on the first floor?

Yes! Also @texanpride, if you decide to go through sorority recruitment, shoot me PM.

Thank you very much, @collegeshopping!
