SSAT Experience

Hey guys, I took my SSAT today. Overall, not a bad test. I have to say that the math section was easy easier than I though it would be. The reading section, as expected, was killer. I wouldn’t be surprised if I scored in the 50th percentile (god please no ?) and the verbal section was a breeze. I’m taking this test again in January. Today’s test was just for me to see how difficult the test actually is and what types of materials I need to study. I know the types of questions change with each test but today’s test showed that the official SSAT study guide is just what I need to study, even though it’s materials are actually HARDER than the ones on the test itself.
I need tips on how to stop procrastinating. I can’t stop. I literally studied for 9 hours the day before the test. I had 10 weeks to study. I now have a little less than a month for the next test and I need to study for the reading section.

Well, that’s all.

My kid thought today’s test was not as hard as the November test, especially the math portion.

My son (applying for 10th grade, though he’s young for the grade and considering applying for ninth for sports reasons) scored in the 63rd percentile on the November test and took it again this weekend. Sounded like he thought he did better—I guess one of the reading samples was either repeated from the previous test or had showed up on one of his practices. There’s a chance he’ll take it one last time in January if his score didn’t come up as much as he wanted. At the moment it looks like there’s no availability for that one in Switzerland, so we might have to go to London for it. We always like going there—lived there for four years before we moved here—but we’d rather avoid the expense.
