two questions:
my grades in middle school grades weren't that great a couple Cs here and there and Bs and As but it progressively got better each year and this year as a freshman I have a 4.5 weighted average 3.8 unweighted. will that effect me in any way? I also take all honors classes at a gifted school

My SSAT score in November was 61% and I recently took it again but I doubt ill get better than a 75%. and I REALLY studied which is a bummer, will that effect my chances?

I volunteer very often locally and internationally. I won various shows in ceramics and photography and I play competitive soccer for 8 years now.

It always looks good when you seem to be on an upward trajectory, but I recommend widening your net if you are serious about going to boarding school. Those are highly selective schools, and you couldn’t be certain of admission even with higher numbers. Are you committed to New England, and to coeducation? Consider Millbrook, Portsmouth Abbey, Kent, Brooks, Northfield-Mount Hermon. Salisbury if you’re a boy; Emma Willard or Miss Porter’s, if you’re a girl. If you’re open to the mid-Atlantic region, consider Mercersburg, Blair, George, Westtown, or Hill.

I think that the only thing holding you back is your SSAT scores. If you really want to fo to Boarding school, you really need to coinsider applying to at least one “safety school”, where you are pretty confident that you will be accepted. I would suggest The Gunnery, Northfield Mount Hermon, or Berkshire to name a few. Know that the schools you are applying to are all EXTREMELY selective, with acceptance rates all being below or about 20%. I would consider replacing Andover with a less selctive school that you really feel comfortable at. Andover is one of the top schools in the world, and accepts only 14% of its applicants. It also has an average of almost 94% on the SSAT. Quite frankly, I don’t believe that you have a large chance of being accepted there, but then again I don’t know you. You may be an extremely giftewd person and wonderful individual who would fit in perfectly at these schools, but the only info I have are your scores and grades really, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But once again, if this is what you really want, you have to consider whether or not you would rather go to the schools you are at now, or a less selctive school (worst case scenario). Anyways, best of luck to you, and if you do apply to these schools, I do hope you are accepted!
