Yes your math score is a little low for someone who does so well in math. Did you retake it? Even if you did not, the 74 is not low, it just is not high. There are so many students who miss very few math questions that a little carelessness or being a slower worker can make a big difference. (From experience of other students, you may find math in bs harder than in your current school.) But you did so well in the 2 other sections and the math is not bad at all that I think you are fine in the SSAT. I would not worry about it.

thanks Inquiring Mind. I do tend to make very stupid and careless mistakes, it is definitely one of the things I need to improve. Yeah, I am not retaking it and I never studied for it or anything. I don't know, i only decided to apply to boarding school in september, so I really haven't had time to prepare much...especially since I started high school this year and I am in the International Baccalaureate (I.B.) program. So it has been a crazy year.

I did so bad on the ssat.

What did you get, leahog?

I'm in eighth grade and I'm applying to: Exeter, Andover, Choate, Hotchkiss, St. Paul's, and Loomis.

I barely studied on the SSAT, but here are my scores:

verbal: 780, percentile 98%
math: 800, percentile 99%
reading: 760, percentile 98%

Do you think I have a chance of getting in to any of my schools?

I'm sure you know that your scores are good... Maybe you should tell us some other things about your self, such as grades, EC's, etc., which also factor into your application.

"take the test again hun, i just don't think schools like exeter are going to appreciate the math score! your other scores are amazing tho, congratulations on them!"

nellyrae, i know you are just trying to be helpful but comments like this are discouraging. although the math scores werent anything amazing, ellis still has a shot at all of the schools seeing as ssats aren't top priorities. even if she should take the test again, dont you think we should all try to be more encouraging.
