I recently found out that my SSN was inputted wrong on my application. I sent UB an email about this and I received the following email back:

"We will need you to send us a copy of your social security card via email, mail or fax."

I want to get my SSN fixed as quickly as possible because of FAFSA, so I'm considering doing the email option. However, I've been told never trust sending SSN through emails. But considering this is from the UB admission email, would it be considered safe?

Yeah, don’t send an email because your never too sure whose reading that. Call admissions tomorrow and tell them your case and I’m sure they’d be more then happy to put in the right SSN haha.

Always be careful about your SSN

I’d fax it if I were you. Email is pretty risky because you’re computer might be infected without you knowing, and some creep out there will have a new number to play with. Mail would take too long, plus I’d hate to send my SSN card through the mail with the small risk of it getting lost, blah blah blah. Fax seems the fastest way to go.

I guess you can call if you want, but I’m sure if that was an option they would have listed it. Never hurts to try. =)

thanks for your suggestions! i ended up going to Kinkos to get it faxed. in the end, i just felt too uncomfortable with sending it through email. hopefully my SSN gets fixed quick enough for my FAFSA! *crosses fingers, haha
