Ssp

Ladros, msm me if you want...I'm on right now (9:00 PM central time) and will probably be on Saturday morning/afternoon a lot...I'm not sure though.

Congrats, BhangraKid...

Why does it seem like everybody's going to Socorro?! =

Hey Everyone..

THanks for all your advice (u all seem to be soo knowledgeable (its a good thing))
You all will have a great time going to whatever program u decide to go to... As for me.. I think I am going to think a little bit longer, as to where I will be going..
(I dunno.. I'd rather not be sending out all my personal information out simfish... sorry)

But Thanks A ton, u guys are the best :)

No problem. Hope you don't think past the 7 days in which you have to return your SSP stuff though.

Sigh: I don't really know why everyone is going to Socorro, but you shouldn't base it on CC. I mean, there are only five of us here, out of the 72 total for either program. My choice for New Mexico was that I know for a fact I will probably never go to New Mexico in my life. I want to experience something new, instead of just heading north toward Ojai, which I have driven past many times. Also the VLA we're visiting sounds cool...can't wait!

Ladros (strider)

Well, obviously, there are going to be 35 other people with me there in Ojai, but I wanted to meet a few of them on this board (which is why I even signed up for the CC forum =P) before summer. I kinda expected there to be more based on the number of people who got accepted into Socorro, but oh well...

ehh, kind of just luck of the draw I guess. I really want to meet some people before I go to SSP also, but so far there are only 3 of us with 1 maybe. I was thinking, would it be inappropriate to ask Mr. Bowden if he is willing to send me some emails of others who are accepted and plan to go? It would seem kind of rude so I did not do that. I'm pretty sure we'll get lots of time to talk on the bus ride and everything during SSP. I just can't wait.

Has everyone received notice of their status yet?

Ladros

I think that i'll put...
" O' Majestic One "
for my nickname on that form.
what is everyone else puting?

My nickname is Strider, 10 points for anyone who tells me where it is from and another bonus 5 bonus points for another nickname that I could have chosen (if you know where it is from you'll know what I am talking about)

Strider

lol! don't be styder! that's my cat's name!!!

do i get points for that?

strider, its obvious that you derived your name from the chewing gum, Strident

there is another minor possibility involving a certain movie series that I love, but I highly doubt that that would be it...

I put my name for my nickname... How boring =P

Anyway, Strider could be from the Japanese anime superhero... >.>

Nope all wrong so far. Oh Majestic one, is your cat's name Styder? or Stryder? That's pretty funny if it's the same thing as my nickname.

So I was volunteering today, and I noticed that some monks have certain adjectives as part of their names. Wouldn't it be cool to have your name be "The Venerable (insert name here)" such as "The Venerable Tom Smith" hehe, just sounded cool to me.

Ladros

53 more days till SSP Socorro...

Strider is, quite obviously, Aragorn. ;-) He used to be my favorite character, until I discovered Samwise...Be Samwise, Ladros! Samwise samwise samwise! I think it was the same one you put, JD...Ladros already said it was wrong, I suppose...

I totally emphasize with you, Sigh. I put my real name on the form as well ;-)

lol nothing wrong with putting your real names

i put k.g., cuz hes always been my favorite nba player

15 points for you tweetle! I don't think I can change it anymore...so I'll just stick with Strider. Samwise! I love that name...but the thing is, everytime I think of him I just keep thinking of the one part in TTT where he says, "Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew!!!!" If anyone wants to hear a remix of that part of the movie played with a beat I can send it to them. Warning: You will laugh your a-- off.

Ladros aka Strider

That's awesome, Ladros. :-) Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew... It's funny, I've only seen the movies once, so I don't remember them very well; I can't imagine him saying that for some reason.

Who are your favorite characters?

I'm not trying to turn this into an LOTR thread, I promise. ;-) It relates to SSP. Somehow. :-)

Wow, you cannot imagine how big of a fan I am of LOTR. I have seen all the movies a billion times, read the books, and just about collected everything LOTR there is. I cannot name my favorite characters because I seriously like them all! Witchking and Aragorn stand out though, but I am fond of everyone.

Okay, to keep this a SSP thread, JD and I have made a site. And Mary, help us out! Read the site and find out how can u contribute.

www.freewebs.com/ssp_2005_socorro

Psh... Lord the Rings = most overrated book evere =P

...Although I have to admit the movie was not bad...

i got into ssp in ojai, california; i thought i posted it before, but i guess not, so there..
