The stress has begun!! I still haven’t heard back… I did apply in late October however!
I applied in early/mid-October so was hoping to hear back by Thanksgiving… the wait is killing me
Happy St. Andrews Day to everyone accepted or still waiting.
My daughter just signed a lease on a house with 3 friends for next year! Nice little 4 bedroom about a 15 minute walk to chemistry and to downtown. She lived in halls this year but is ready for independent life.
Well done to your daughter, @VickiSoCal. The growth in independence is real- barely 3 months ago she was just learning where her classrooms were and now she’s off organizing her own housing!
@collegemom3717 I know! And we didn’t do anything. They found the house, communicated with landlord, signed the lease and are all set. Four 18 year olds out on their own.
Just got an update from St. Andrews asking for me to send my current grades (even though the semester isn’t over) did anyone else who’s waiting get this?
@cfanderson I got this last week as well. They give you an option to upload it yourself but my school sends it directly to the university via my guidance office. I just replied to the email and told them my school sent them, they responded the next day saying they got it. Now I just wanna know if I got in!
Ok, that makes me feel better! Unforuntalty I had to report a bad AP score, but oh well. When did you apply?? And sameeee the waiting game is too much.
*Unfortunately can’t spell haha. But thanks again! @nbxx33
Generally a “bad” AP score in an unrelated subject won’t hurt. How bad? Example my D17 had 3’s in Lang, Lit, and Spanish, but as a science major, they just didn’t care.
@VickiSoCal Pretty bad. My teacher basically didn’t teach us the course, gave us all A’s and then we all failed the AP test (I explained this to them). Luckily it’s AP Bio and I’m applied to a subject in the arts! Thanks for the reply and I hope your daughter is enjoying St. Andrews!
@cfanderson I applied in early October for IR. I hope to hear back soon but I know that IR notoriously hears back late
Someone mentioned earlier that they have a friend that already heard back from IR. Curious if the application was for single IR or joint IR with another subject. Just speculating but maybe IR takes longer when it’s joint. As I mentioned in an earlier post, my d applied last year in Oct and heard back in Feb for joint IR and Social Anthropology. Hopefully everyone will hear back soon. Good luck.
@usuallyconfused No it is just IR that I applied for. I hope the fact that it’s so late doesn’t mean bad news. I had a second option for environmental science/ecology as well. I know about 4 people from my school who all applied to different majors haven’t heard back yet either
I was wondering what people on this forum think. I applied in the middle of October but sent them my new SAT two weeks ago, so technically I sent my final information two weeks ago. I have been so anxious these last weeks its unbearable. My question, for anyone who can answer it is, what is their acceptance rate for Americans and is this a competitive year for American applicants?
@nbxx33 I wouldn’t worry at all about not hearing back yet. (I know…easy for me to say.) It sounds like they are looking at everything since they requested more info and it’s good news that they confirmed getting it. I think you will hear soon. Good luck. @BEWilliams I have never been able to find an American acceptance rate but it is my understanding that UK schools don’t calculate acceptance rates like US schools do.
Other than IR I would say the acceptance rate is near 100% if you met the stated qualifications.
From the information I could find when I researched St. Andrews for a class in the spring the international acceptance rate is anywhere from 60-80 % depending on the year. Obviously that’s not just the USA but that’s the statistic I could find.
Thank you all very much, you have been a tremendous help to my confidence. Thank god there’s a forum for this stuff.
Has anyone applied for the International Excellence Scholarship?
