I live in the Chicago suburbs (specifically Glen Ellyn) and will definitely not have a car my freshman year. Are there any good forms of public transportation back to the Chicago area (train, bus, etc.)? If so, what would it cost me? Thanks.

Just wanted to say: No one is allowed to have a car their freshman year....

Of course there's flights.......

Try the train. Amtrac has a main line that connects Chicago and St. Louis.

http://www.megabus.com/us/ - Fares as low as $1 each way, + $0.50 booking fee. They only have 2 or 3 $1 fares per bus, so book far enough in advance to get that. If you don't get the $1 fare, tickets seem to be between $8 and $15.

There's a big (beautiful) Southwest Terminal at STL (St. Louis Lambert Field.) Though it's a hike from Midway to your final destination, they offer some low fares.
