Fast and convenient way to get to Chicago (Besides driving or flying)?

I don't have a car and flying seems overkill. What's the recommended way of travel?

Greyhound? Train?

Last time I went then I took a charter bus and that was with a student group. This time is just me and one other person.

Megabus seems to be decent - about 5.5 hours. If you could book a month or so in advance, it would cost only 10 bucks one way – even only ONE cool dollar at times!

Amtrak runs between St. Louis and Chicago, I think it is about $40 one way, and takes about 4 1/2 hours. Just go to the amtrak website. We have friends who has kids at SLU and they take it all the time.

Love the train! It is pleasant and convenient. It can get pretty, so plan ahead to get your pick of seats.

We tried to take the train last summer and the line was closed for repair so we were stuck taking the bus. DON’T TAKE THE BUS! It is a nightmarish long ride, no stops for food and took much longer than we were told it was going to take.
