Congrats!! Is she still waiting to hear from other schools or does she know she wants to be a Duck?
Have you watched the new episode of College Tour featuring UO on YouTube yet? Lots to love about the campus and school. (I did note none of it was filmed on a rainy day, I am guessing that’s by design. )
Thank you! She still is waiting to hear from schools, but she’s very interested in UO. Already met with several faculty and would love to be part of their intriguing research. What about your daughter?
My daughter has whittled her list down to 4-5 now and UO is definitely still on it.
She has other options she likes a lot that are providing more merit aid so far, so that may end up making a difference. She needs to hear back from a few schools and see final financial aid packages to decide for sure.
Hi all, question for you - are you aware of anyone who was a finalist (on to the final round that speaks directly to the Foundation) that didn’t ultimately get selected? My child found out that they made it to the last round, we’re over the moon but unclear from some things we’ve read on chat boards if it’s still highly competitive at this point or more of a “fit” conversation? Or does it depend on the school? Thanks and congratulations to all of you getting this far in the process!
Interview went well! She was not thrown off of stumped. Said it wasn’t like that. Was a mature conversation about her goals, accomplishments, her questions about the foundation. She said she should hear next week. Super thrilling. Best of luck to those who still will be interviewing
I have a question has anyone been put on a waitlist for a stamp scholarship. as in been told if one of the ‘original’ winners doesn’t accept then they have a chance at receiving it? thanks.
When my D22 had her interview day, there was a nice lunch with current scholars. One of them said she had originally received the Nordenberg (which is paired with the Stamps during the interview process at Pitt.) Nordenberg is full-tuition and study abroad and still prestigious, but it’s Pitt specific. She told my D22 that she got a call that one of the Stamps kids was no longer considering Pitt, and that she “was next in line” and that she could have the Stamps! So that showed us that they do have a system, and they must rank their finalists, and that’s how they work it when something like that happens. Perhaps they reach out to another student to then fill the Nordenberg spot or perhaps not.
thank you :)!
She’s a bright kid. but actually, since she didn’t have her heart set on a certain university, had good stats, and lots of extra stuff going for her, she approached this whole college search thing in a different way than most do. I hope it works out for her… but if it doesn’t, we have had a lot of fun along the way, and she has learned a lot! wouldn’t trade this experience and time with her for the world
