Standardized Tests...

I'm not the best Standardized Test taker by any means. My SAT superscore is 2080 (700/650/730) which I know isn't quite Columbia material. However, lately I've been doing some ACT practice and I'm scoring a hell of a lot better on the ACT. My practice scores are always 32-34...

Now, to beg the question. If I stupidly already reported my scores to Columbia, but I also report a 32-34 ACT, will the low SAT score still adversely affect me in admissions?

They say it won't....but I wouldn't be so sure.

no it won't. they'll just convert your ACT to an SAT score, and take which ever one is higher.

Well, I guess it's safe to assume that a 2080 alone is a lot worse than a 2080 and a 34.

Not really. They'll look at it but they will take the highest score. Of course, it helps you to get a higher score anyways because some scholarships and such only take the SAT.

Alright, here is the predicament...

I've sent my SAT scores to Columbia College - not SEAS. So, theoretically, if I send a 34 ACT to SEAS and no SAT scores, they'll only have access to the ACT, right? Would I even have to list my SAT scores in my application?

haha well...hate to burst your bubble, but i'm pretty sure they need 2 SAT II's so they see your SAT. i made a very similar thread recently in the college admissions forum, so you should check it out and see what everyone said regarding this situation.

You can't send SATII independently of SATI?

Jesus, College Board is a piece of crap.

It's one adcomm. Although you're "sending scores to different schools" might cause some confusion for the office workers that sort the files, the adcomm, most likely, would see both scores.
