they have been decreasing the percent of the class that is admitted through REA

and thanks mfed
ur awesome!

so im on the really negative part of stanford syndrome

i just found out that a kid from my school who applied REA is being recruited for swimming and is nowhere near the top of the class…
im f***ed

Stanford aims for a 15% deferral rate, according to the admissions officer I talked to. And last year, after REA decisions were released, they claimed that about 10% of deferred applicants were eventually accepted. Of course, that was when their acceptance rate was actually around 10%…

I just got a reminder from Google Calendar about my Stanford decision coming tomorrow; I set it back when that was a possibility. Really makes me realize how close it is now.

all of my friends have been hesitating to tell me until some1 actually came out and said it today.

serious depression just hit me.

I can honestly say that I don’t have Stanford syndrome at all. I convinced myself that I was going to get rejected a few weeks ago, and I’ve stuck to that conviction ever since. I can’t decide if that’s a good thing or not.

what are the chances that stanford would take two kids from the same school?

yea im kinda wondering about that.
has anyone’s school taken more than 1 REA? (outa all of u here)

I know at least two others at my school who applied early. Both of them are my friends, but I can’t see all of us getting in…

GAH. So close.

At my school 19 kids applied SCEA last year. 5 got in, 2 deferred. about 70 applied regular, 5 of them got in, 1 waitlisted. So it’s definitely possible.

I hate it when reality hits.

wow

well
im my case, 3 REA applicants. maybe 8-10 regular.
its amazing that 5/19 got in though. thats awesome

considering…2/3 would be 66% admit rate. unlikely?

Wow, that’s a lot. o_0

My school isn’t good at sending kids to Ivies/Stanford.

I’m sorta with Starmie, Although I really want to get in, I decided a while ago that nothing good will come out of this obsession, so I try to think of other things…unsuccessfully.

Agh Chinatown and NJDS, I’m in virtually the same situation, except it’s both of yours combined. And more than two, and Stanford almost never accepts anyone from our school, I’m pretty much doomed. xP
The one I’m worried about is the swimming prodigy, who is also decently good academically - she’s being recruited by all of the Ivies, and although I have no clue what Stanford’s coach thinks of her, Stanford is her top choice… so if Stanford does abide by the one-kid-per-school unspoken policy, she’ll probably be the one to get in. Poo.

By the way, what’s Stanford Syndrome?

I’m the only one at my school applying REA. Two others might apply RD. Out of around 500. Which is especially sad when you consider that I live like an hour away from Stanford. :P

canaryk: im im the same position kinda
swimming recruit
relatively smart i guess but not near the top (but stil top 10% prolly)

we get someone to go to stanford like once every 5-10 years
not because they rnt good but bc we r from nj and few people apply to stanford (the top students) because they are goin to the ivies.

Stanford syndrome is when one day you feel pretty good about your chances and the next you think why-the-heck-did-I-even-bother. Like bipolar disorder…for Stanford applicants.

I have been thinking why the heck did I even bother ever since pressing submit :x

So far my school has sent one person every year for the past few years

Haha diglett…I think you’re in the majority there.

diglett, if Ash thought that he had no chance since he woke up late and didn’t go to professor Oak, he would have never gotten Pickachu and would have never became the great trainer he is today. lol wow I haven’t seen Pokemon in 9 years but still! By applying at least you tried and you have a chance just like all of us Diglett.
