Stanford Admissions?

I have visited Stanford University and i like the campus a lot. My question is what do you have to get on the SAT or ACT to be accepted by Stanford?

i think there range is from 30-34 act
no sure about sat though

Stanford is among the top 5 schools in the country, unfortunately. As such, nobody gets accepted to Stanford just because their test scores were good. Having awesome grades and test scores is the BASELINE for Stanford applicants; to stand a chance, you need to be a wonderful applicant above and beyond your academic performance.

So what would your grades have to be? And what class rank do you need to have? Like if you are in the top 10 would Stanford accept you?

^Top 10 means you meet their academic baseline. The rest will depend on the other parts of your application.

If you’re top 10 and have 2200+ SAT with no EC then you can stop by Stanford Admissions to pick up your application file from the “Laughable Rejections” pile.

These are the testing scores of First-Year Students (according to collegeboard)

SAT Critical Reading: 650 - 760
SAT Math: 680 - 780
SAT Writing: 670 - 760
ACT Composite: 30 - 34

People–these rankings you are giving are for students between the 25th and 75th percentiles, not all students. When you back out the many athletes, URMs, staff kids, legacies and the rich and connected, the average student being admitted without one of those hooks is at or above the top of the ranges given.

hmom5 i applied to stanford and i dont have a good act score, i am nervous and terrified whether i will get in or not, and does anybody know if mid report grades are considered part of admission decisions?

yes, midreport grades are very important, so far as i know . It shows you’re continually working hard and not slacking off just because u finished applying.you hav to work till the very end.

thanks Lyl926, i hope i do awesome this semester  good luck to all

masterlu: you’re asking such basic questions — have you looked here???

[Undergraduate Admission : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>http://admission.stanford.edu/)

I have looked there. What i actually wanted to ask was what does your class rank have to be in order to get into Stanford? On their site, all they say is that you have to challenge yourself in high school. I wanted to know if there is a range that you have to get into in order to go to Stanford.

oh no! im taking hard classes this year (6 APs) but im not doing as well as usual…do u think this will look bad, or since they are hard classes will still b ok?

jj43912 on stanford’s site they do say that you should challenge yourself in high school. Of course getting better grades in your AP classes get you into better colleges then if you get bad grades. But because you are challenging yourself in school I think colleges will respect that.

^ That’s what schools say so applicants don’t get discouraged. No school in their right mind is going to say “If you don’t have mostly A’s, you’re outta here.” The fact is that if you have A’s in easy/regular classes with no rigor, then you will be rejected. If you have B’s/C’s in tough AP classes, you will most likely still be rejected. You don’t need a 4.0, but definitely mostly A’s in tough classes if you want to have a real shot.

yea i guess u guys r right. thnx masterlu and an0maly…im studying 4 my midterms as we speak hehe

Not true. At least completely unhooked 3 people from my school (an average public school) have been admitted with SAT’s around 2050.
