aww thanks a lot. Now I am so torn and confused. My goodness....sigh!

torn between what?

hm.. the mail comes at about 1 pm to my house.. i'll be at work, conveniently missing it.. ugh. not looking forward to coming home after a nice, long 8 freaking hour shift to an effing thin envelope.. gwah.. hahaha i like how we're all dramatizing this..

I hope I was the 2, 411th person accepted.

I love Stanford HumBio program, but it's too close to home...
I love MIT's hardcore Bio program, but I'm scared I'll fail out and that it will kill my dream of being a pediatrician.
I love the fact that Columbia is in NYC, but I hate Columbia's Core.

that is torn.

Given that there are so many people here who are interested in becoming doctors, why would you not have applied for one of the BA/MD programs that are offered which assure you of a place in a medical school without having to worry about the MCAT, etc? It usually works out cheaper, as well.

I happen to be one of those who did apply and got into one of the BA/MD programs but I also have been accepted into a couple of top-notch undergrad schools and am in the process of deciding what I should do.

I thought about a combined degree program, and I decided no because I would be missing out on my undergraduate experience. And plus, I wouldn't mind going through this whole admission ordeal again for medical school :)

For me, even though I'm very much set on being a pediatrician, I want to explore in college. I want to take classes in Psychology, Philosophy, Health Policy, Economics, Management, etc. I want to explore and find new interests, and I felt like a combined program would limit my experience.

i applied to stanford for fall 05' and the css profile for financial aid...i got a postcard in the mail to send my family's 05' tax returns to stanford..does this indicate admission? b/c y would a school even consider u for financial aid if they aren't considering u as an undergraduate? i kno i sound crazy....but im DESPERATE! haha =)

I think this would mean that you are in!

don't get my hopes up! haha.....=)

i thought stanford uses idoc.. which means u send the tax stuff to idoc..

anyways. no mail from stanford yet. my mail has been really slow lately. i didn't get accepted to harvard, which is pretty sad.. oh well.. i knew i wouldnt tho, since my school is so concentrated and i was doing 5 apps over winter break.. a lot of bad news this past weekend. stanford is my last letter, im hoping it will break the series of bad luck.

best of luck swtvtgyrl!...

Follow love, conquer fear. That said, we'd love to see you at Stanford. I promise, Palo Alto isn't really the backyard from Oakland. But my D is having a similar issue - Princeton, Cal, or Stanford. And we've decided there's no checklist answer, only following your gut. Go visit the places again. If you can't afford it ask them to pay. Since you have a soul, let it talk to you.

Yes! Got in today!!!
