Stanford Class of 2017 RD Discussion

^how’d you find out? That means it will not be looked at, as in you “opted out”.

after previous 4 rejections and 1 waitlist, I finally got my first acceptance from UCLA. Unless I hear pleasant surprise from HPS, it seems like I’ll likely end up at berkeley

Are we sure that it will come out 3/29?

Gosh, so nervous…denied/waitlisted at all the schools I’ve received so far (besides safety). Really hopeful for Stanford because safety didnt give any financial aid

@injustice I’m i the same boat as you I got into all of my UCs but WL’ed at three privates, Rejected from MIT, and got into one so far. Most likely gonna end up at berkeley if I don’t get into Stanford…

You’ve gotta admit that’s not so bad… ^^

I’m pretty much satisfied with the results but getting into Stanford would definitely top it off…

Did you already hear from Berkeley?

Yup, I am a regents candidate there so I know I’m guaranteed admission there.

magenta, I’m like 95% sure it will be 3/29. It follows the historical trend, and someone posted earlier that the alumni letter said “by March 30.” So it def can’t be April 1 or March 31.

Isn’t April 1st a holiday this year in the U.S ? It is in half europe.
(Not for being april’s fool day, of course… It’s easter monday)

I’m pretty much sure they won’t release decisions on a saturday/sunday unless they have to (because they took more time to make the final decisions, for example), and the idea of “we release them on friday so we don’t get to answer calls before monday” makes sense (I mean, a lot of univs already do that).

Why would they release results on Good Friday? I am thinking that the 28th is the most likely date. Just my 2 cents.

Is Good Friday a holiday (nobody works on that day) ?
Because if not, I don’t think they will care much, Stanford is not religiously affiliated…

I don’t think that they will upset 94% of about 39,000 applicants on a holiday. Monday and Tuesday are Passover. Good Friday and Sunday are holidays for a lot of people. Unless that they want to do it on April 1. The best date might be on Wednesday, a day ahead of the other schools.

There is basically no way they are gonna release on Ivy day. So if Friday-Sunday are out because of holidays (I googled it, apparently there is a religious thing every day. Good Friday, Silent Saturday, Palm Sunday) then it would be Wednesday. So either Wednesday or Friday.

As I said, Stanford is not religiously affiliated…
In fact, the whole week that follows Sunday is a religious holiday in some countries (like Spain), but I don’t think they’d care…
So my bet is still on Friday.

To some person somewhere, it’s a religious holiday today, everyday. This going to sound harsh, but Stanford doesn’t care. Friday the 29th.

Yeah I agree it is still most likely the 29th. But no matter what not the 28th.

Let’s just wait and see !
Btw, this doesn’t answer my previous question : My Guidance Counselor just sent them an important update about me, do you guys think they will get it in time ? (I’m an international student, so they’re deciding of my fate right now!)

@hennebou just in my personal opinion (i might be totally wrong), but i think the majority of the decisions are made at the beginning of march. i think march is devoted to financial aid since the typical deadline for financial aid is march 1. i’m pretty sure that everyone’s decisions have already been made as of right now and not much will change that.
