I applied REA to Stanford. Would like to study Physics. I am from the Chicago area and have NOT received an interview notification email yet.

The alumni interviewers probably just got their lists and it may take some of them several days to contact everyone. Keep in mind that the interview has very, very little bearing on admissions!

It’s this Sunday at a coffee shop that’s like a three minute walking distance from my school. It’s super convenient. When’s yours?

mine is at a coffee shop within walking distance of my school too! (:

it’s next Tuesday

Good luck to those participating in interviews in the coming weeks. If you have any questions about interviews or the university, feel free to shoot me a message or reference my username in a comment.

I got my interview. Oh man. I was shaking. I feel good about this one.

@siemenscomp should we be bringing anything to the interview (resume)? I’d rather not, but I’ve heard some schools/interviewers like having something to refer to. Mine didn’t mention anything in his emails.
Thanks!

@Niawski As a fellow applicant, what I did was send an brief email of my biography. What I like, dislike, what I want to major in, etc. That way, your interviewer can prepare beforehand.

@siemenscomp - I applied REA to Stanford on Nov 1st. My professor with who I have been working/researching for the last couple of years fraxed his recommendation to Stanford for me. How will I know Stanford got his fax?

I am really counting on his recommendation since he knows me extremely well. Is there a way I can check whether they got his fax?

Did you get a confirmation when you faxed @acamar ? When I faxed over my tax forms, I chose fax w/ confirmation and received a confirmation that they got my item around 7 minutes later. It was busy at first, then on the second try the confirmation went through. (This was at school though and last Thursday as well so maybe this is irrelevant)

Also, if you’ve gotten your axess account already, then you can check your application status there. If it is an extra recommendation, then you won’t be able to know.

In any case hopefully this gets sorted out quickly for you!

I’m hoping I get an interview. I have a nice homemade bow tie I’m looking to try out lol :snazzydresserwhile_winking:

@emenya, My professor faxed the recommendation letter. I don’t know whether he faxed with confirmation.

@Niawski, you do not need to bring a resume if your interviewer did not ask for one. Typically, your interview will focus mostly on you, but that could change depending on your interviewer. It might be nice to bring one with you to use only if the discussion during your interview goes dry.

@acamar, check with the admissions office by sending them a message through their website. It is the only way to confirm that your admissions counselor will see all parts of your application.

The Chicago interviews are being held in the Willis Tower… I hope this doesn’t mean the interview is more formal, if that is the case, I guess it’s time for me to pick up a suit haha

Is there a way to send in just little bits of information, like that I didn’t take band this year due to a scheduling conflict?

Regardless of location, I’m sticking to business casual. Khakis and such.

I’m applying REA.
I have a 2340 SAT, 800 math II, 700 bio M (haha…yeah…), a decent GPA (this is my overall weak-point though), probably good rec’s but I never read them, pretty good essays and extracurriulars I’d say, and some misc awards.

I’d say my chances are pretty slim, but I’m going for it anyway. I’m applying for CS. I’m not a math freak like some people here: never got past the AIME, but I was never really that into math competition anyway. The only kid i know who got in from my school was a two-time USAMO qualifier.

Also my interview’s tomorrow. I was actually not even aware that Stanford interviewed - I got an email from an alumni a few days ago. I’m excited! Also nervous. Mostly nervous.

I submitted my REA application on Nov 1st. I keep getting emails from Stanford saying that my SAT results are not processes. I had sent it as a rush delivery on Oct 19th. Did any one else get these messages? Do I need to send the SAT results again?

International applicant for REA, requiring full financial aid SAT: 2000 and no SAT subject tests. Neat ECs. Great recs and essays. I feel more hopeful than a lot of people seem to feel here
