***Stanford Class of 2019 Applicant Discussion***

@1mangogo‌ hahah you got it! Beautiful country, terrible people (and leaders)

I heard Stanford is doing interviews this year, can anyone confirm this?

Yes. I already had one. @ProximaCentauri‌

@ProximaCentauri‌ I had one as well

@ProximaCentauri‌ yes, Stanford is conducting interviews. However, I don’t think you will get one. I can’t remember what city you said you were from but I don’t think it was Singapore or Hong Kong (correct me if I’m wrong).

I couldn’t find an earlier post about interviews, but here is the interview information from Stanford’s website:

Hello guys. As 15th December approaches, I wonder if anyone has received any ‘hint-mails’ as of yet?

@lukan9718‌ Stanford hasn’t contacted me even once yet :’(

I just keep checking my status on the Stanford Axess portal and it seems all my items have been processed now. Those are the only mails I receive. @nagintapls

All I got beside axess replies was an email that told me to make sure two certain email addresses were added to my contacts. The subject was something along the lines of “your application to stanford-action is required”

What are your intended majors at Stanford?

I haven’t heard anything from Stanford either. I keep checking the axess thing (even though all of my items have been processed) because it makes me feel good to receive an email from them! It’s lame, I know…

Management Sciences and Engineering. I would either co-term or double-major. If i double majored, I’d major in biomechanical engineering, possibly. And I might minor in philosophy (i mean, of course if i’d have the time to)

It’s great talking to you all. I do the same @imagineer10
My intended majors are human biology and anthropology. I feel I won’t be admitted at all as I’m international, asian, male, seeking financial aid, low sat score and just found a few glitches in my essay.

Bioengineering over here! And I’ve probably reread my essays a thousand times  But honestly I don’t see anyway I could have changed them. I feel fine with them. Just going to see how the admission officers like them.

But to be honest, all this poetry we’ve been analyzing in Lit has made me question my major a little bit :-/

Then again I talked about how I loved genetics and writing in my essays so…

@lukan9718 I am also an international student, south american, with below average SAT scores for Stanford, and needing huge financial aid. I completely understand how you feel. My intended major is energy resource engineering (formerly known as petroleum engineering).

I know how yall feel!!! I need huge financial aid and my SAT/ACT scores are on the lower end. However, I feel great about my essays! I spent like 2 months on them and had like 5 people read over and edit them. So I hope those will make a difference in my application! Also, my recommendations were pretty great! So who knows… I just hope my scores are high enough that they won’t deny me before they even look at the rest of my application (do they actually do that?).

@lukan9718 i am an international applicant from canada and got an email from stanford asking if i wanted financial aid or not, even though i indicated and signed on my application that i do NOT want financial aid :O

If your scores are within a certain range, I think they don’t really care. I’m hoping they can overlook my horrible 710 math II score

Hey guys! Just wondering, do I need to submit my CSS now or what? Will it affect my admission decision if I don’t?
