My Gmail app on my iPad shows notifications for emails as soon as they are sent to me, rather than having to refresh constantly. I haven’t decided whether I’ll log out of my email that day so that I don’t have to see the notification until I’m ready, or stay logged in so that I’ll know as soon as possible. Thoughts?

@KMizzle Haha, I have the same thing on my phone. I was contemplating turning it off, too, but I honestly think I’d go even more crazy knowing that there could be an email from stanford just sitting on my phone, and I wouldn’t know about it.

It’s gotten to the point where I just wanna know what the decision is, good or bad, so I can stop worrying about it

hi everyone. just wanted to say I believe that everyone who is stressing out needs to take a deep breath. Don’t set yourself up for failure. I am sure that all who have even bothered to apply REA are going to be very successful, Stanford or not. Obviously getting in would be amazing, but just think of it as winning the lottery, not a must have necessity of life.

That being said, it will be a whole lot easier to expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised than to have high expectations and have your spirits crushed.

No one knows that decisions come out Friday but me. Not even my parents. I don’t think I want them to know either. That way I can process what ever happens. Unfortunately, I’m stuck at home because I just got my Wisdom Teeth out so I have no way of distracting myself these next two days

EVERYONE HERE IS AMAZING
WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER

Do you guys know if they go in order? Like acceptances first, rejections last…?

I hope they do…Hope for the good news, and good luck tomorrow everyone!!!

I’m really glad that they confirmed the decision date. At least we don’t have to be anxious now about when results are coming, since we can expect them on a certain date and time. I’m kind of confused about why it would take so long to send the e-mails - isn’t it possible for them to send one e-mail to all the accepted/rejected/deferred at once? It kind of doesn’t make sense that they would send thousands of e-mails individually. Whatever the reason, I personally feel kind of relieved at this point. We’re in the home stretch of the waiting period now, so just keep hanging in there everyone!

Stanford, or any other school, sends the letter individually because they wanna show that the school really cares about the student, and most of them really do. It takes efforts to send the letter, that’s why its more meaningful :)

I’m pretty sure they don’t want everyone’s email address to be in their email CC. It mightbe partially that they want personal emails but I feel like privacy is important too.

@sunburst224 they are basically just sending mass emails. However, the email you receive will be sent to only your address and will have your name, if that makes sense. Even if they sent a single email for accepted applicants, one for deferred, and one for denied, that would also take a long time. Plus, that would cause huge privacy issues (because you could see the email addresses of the other recipients of you dig deep enough).

Think about the second or so it takes you to send one email, then multiply it by 7000 decisions. Add in unusually large amounts of emails and other communications coming into their system over the next few days, and you got a process that could possibly take days.

Also, when people say that your email could be late, it means that it likely won’t show up in your inbox at precisely 3:00:00 PM. It could be seconds, minutes, or hours off (early or late), because technology and Internet connections are not perfect.

it’s funny how I thought I was going to die few days ago if I get rejected, but now I honestly feel ready for a blow, whether it’s a good one or a bad one I’ve been turning in my RD apps one by one this week and realized that life, actually, does go on (Nevertheless, I am REALLY hoping for good news)

As you guys are preparing for the decision, keep in mind that REA is usually specifically designed for colleges to get dibs on athletes and other “special students,” like people who are extraordinary (like MAJOR MAJOR award winners or geniuses). Plus legacy.

Hey guys! So I’ve been anxiously waiting for the Stanford decision (like everyone else here haha), and I still haven’t sent in my ACT/Subject Test scores to my RD schools because I didn’t want to waste money in case I, by some miracle, get into Stanford. If I send test scores on Friday will they make it in time? Have I totally screwed up my future??

P.S. GOOD LUCK TO ALL <3

For me, decisions start coming out at 11pm, think yourselves lucky! I’ll be up all night no doubt.

Hey! Harvard SCEA applicant here (I’m applying to Stanford RD). Good luck to you all!! My Harvard decision comes out tomorrow.

haha, I didn’t send my test scores or college transcript to RD schools either
I’m assuming it’s ok since most RD app deadline is 1/1 and if you send scores right after you find out (IF you get rejected/deferred- sad thought) they should arrive before the deadline. Even if they don’t, it usually takes colleges a while to sort everyone’s files out, so I’m assuming it’s ok.

Nope, all at once

@Ninopedia aw thanks for stopping by :))) good luck to you too!!

@Ninopedia Aww good luck to you, too! <3

@elolol777 @sjsprint Thanks guys!
