Hello everyone!
I too was waitlisted for the Stanford Class of 2020, but am honored to have made it this far. It would be a dream come true to be admitted from the waitlist.
I noticed that nobody has mentioned an error found in the admissions decision letter. It states in the third paragraph of my letter that “We are not be able to meet with you individually…” Did anyone else notice this?
Best of luck to all of you, and congratulations on making it to this stage!
Does anyone know the yield for the class of 2020
I don’t think they are out yet but I know quite a few ppl choosing Stanford over HYP…
QUESTION: For everyone who accepted their spot on the waitlist, did you get a confirmation email or anything from stanford???
You do get a confirmation email. I know someone who chose Harvard over Stanford, so not all hope is lost. The odds are very poor, though.
I honestly think there’s hope this year. Hopefully this statement doesn’t come back to bite me later. xD
@DrDinosaur @equivocal17 Uhoh… I filled in the form but didn’t get a confirmation email or anything… What did the email look like??? (I know the chances are low, but I still want to be on the waitlist you know, just in case)
@Wendelstein You may want to check in your spam folder. I received an email moments after I submitted a response. If you find that it’s still nowhere to be found, you could check on your portal to ensure that your response went through.
Does anyone know when waitlisted students were given a final decision last year?
Hey when you click on display for the waitlist response form in the Stanford Portal, does it still show the entire form, but just locked in so you can’t make changes? So sorry to bother you! :S
and I know last year people heard back like May 8th or something, saying that the yield was unexpectedly high so no one will be getting off the waitlist… But this year they reduced the # of accepted applicants so things might turn out otherwise
I agree @wendelstein. I think there might be a few spots. Good luck everyone!
I know of one spot! My dd decided against Stanford after admitted students weekend. She will be going elsewhere so her spot is available. Good luck everyone!
@mom2ponygirl Your daughter turning down Stanford doesn’t translate into a waiting list spot opening. They already accounted for a bunch of students electing to go elsewhere. The only way a waiting list spot opens is if more students than expected decline Stanford’s offer of admission.
desie1 - yes I know it is not an actual spot, but just an example of not everyone choosing Stanford. It will totally depend on how accurately they calculated their yield. But we know of 3 in our circle of friends who chose against. If you are on the waitlist, the odds are likely not zero that they will pull people off. It was meant as a ray of hope. The odds were slim for any acceptance for anyone.
Mom2ponygirl - I read your post a couple of days ago - never dreaming that my son would be ‘the one’ (ha-ha) to take the spot your daughter gave up! So you were right - there was hope! He got ‘the call’ today! Best you daughter! Best to all!
@NewStanfordMom- Your son made it off the waitlist! Congrats to him! Hopefully that means there’s still hope for the rest of us! Has anyone else heard back?
Some students are posting on Twitter about getting admitted from the Stanford waitlist today. Search for #Stanford2020
I wonder if that’s the only round of students that will be taken off.
My friend’s son also got a call tonight and was accepted from the waitlist.
