***Stanford Class of 2020 Waitlist Discussion***

I guess that means that there will be no more waves of acceptances. However, congrats to those that were accepted!

@equivocal17 wait there will for sure be no more waves of acceptances?.. :frowning: I thought they would keep coming until May 15th or something

I’m not sure :frowning: .I’ve seen at least 10 people who were notified of their acceptance this afternoon. Most likely more students were given a spot that didn’t publicly announce it? Also, given that in past years they’ve accepted as little as 7 people… makes me question how many students they need this year.

woahhhhh 10+ people??? Oh dang :frowning:

I know ;-; I even looked on twitter and IG haha

How can people be getting off the waitlist if the Waitlist Letter says people won’t be notified of their decision until after May 15th?

I think there will be a fair number of additional wait listed applicants taken off the wait list in the days ahead. It’s a really good sign that Stanford has already taken a handful this early!

Stanford accepted fewer students this year than last year with taking only 2,063 (compared to 2,144 for class of 2019) – that’s 81 fewer students! If the yield this year is the same as last year, 81.1%, then that means 1,673 students chose to enroll on May 1st. Since the “target class size” this year is 1,730 students, that means that nearly 60 students will be considered from the wait list. Of course, there is always the possibility that Stanford’s yield rate increases again this year, BUT, I do not think that is realistic, because if you look at Harvard’s yield rate over the past few years, you will see that it actually DROPPED last year to 81% after being at 82% the prior two years. So, I really think that having a yield rate of 80-82% is the HIGHEST it will ever be for Stanford.

Good luck everyone – unlike many past years, I think this year’s applicants on the wait list have significant reasons for hope!!!

^and also keep in mind that every year, Stanford loses 12-15 students during June/July for various reasons so they will go back to the wait list to make up the difference. They didn’t do that last year because they overenrolled to begin with, but this year’s under enrollment brings additional hope :-h

Hi I missed a call yesterday from the assistant dean of admissions Samuel endelli?? asking to have a conversation with me yesterday. I wasnt able to get back to him but he called my home and cell phone. Is this the same person that called the accepted people?

@satmaster28 If I am correct, I believe that the students that were notified of acceptance yesterday received both a call and email from their admission officer.

Guys I made! Whats funnier is that Im going to be turning down UC Berkeley for Stanford!!

Slightly off-topic: how does the waitlist impact the yield calculation? Or is that strictly determined by how many accept the first round of offers?

Congratulations to the lucky few that have made it off so far! Where is everyone currently committed to?

Just received the unwanted email. Strong response to initial offers of admission

Same I got the rejection email haha

Oh well. Where are you off to?

Did the email indicate what Stanford’s yield is this year? Or any details about how many are still expected to be offered spots off the waitlist?

off to a UC  yourself?

No there was no specific info about the yield in the email.

Does this mean people who did not get the email are still being considered?
