Hey! I have an unweighted GPA of 4.0, weighted 4.4. SAT scores of 770 CR 800 Math 800 Writing, SAT II: Chem 800, US History 780, Math II and Lit pending. Top 10% of class (my school sucks; all our top 10% have 4.0 unweighted, and I didn't even get an ELC number. It's a hard school, too; in the top 40 or something in the nation). Took all the APs available, have an art portfolio.

My problem is, not that many ECs at all. Getting the grades takes so much time, and frankly I'm lazy and I want my sleep. My major things are photo editor for yearbook, art, and photography--my essay is on that. I'm planning to do Comp Sci major, art minor or double major.

I'm applying to Stanford, Brown, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, U Penn, UCLA, UCBerkeley, UC Davis, USC. What are my chances at these schools? My impression is that my prospects aren't good for the top ones :(. So many of my friends have my grades or better and volunteer like 98479588967496 hours a day and are president of like 87684763856495 clubs and have saved the world and adopt puppies and tutor college students on quantum mechanics and so on and so forth. All I do is take pictures and draw. Help! Thanks!

Oh, and I'm getting recs from history, chem, and art teachers. I think APUSH will be solid, art will (hopefully) be very nice, but chem teacher doesn't know me that well. And I'm one of the founders and PR officer for our school's Junior State of America chapter. Don't know if that really does anything for my app, though.

your scores great (1600 M/V nice :)). and since your ecs all reflect your love for photography or art, it shows colleges that you are committed in this field. You should get into quite a few ivys (except for stanford). BTW what are your friend's sat scores?

Bball, what are you talking about? Penn's acceptance rate isn't that low and it's not "nutz". People from my school were accepted with 1420 and 1450, RD.

I'm sure you'll get into some of the top schools you're applying to.

Penn doesn't just look at stats you know, and quite a few number of people have perfects. Other factors like plenty of EC's, national awards, and the essay matter much more.

slipper... he/she's got a 2370 and a 4.0 unweighted gpa... anyone with those numbers is not "likely rejected" .. even from stanford... this guy's got a good shot... emphasize ur artistic abilities, get good recs, write dynamite essay

You have a great shot, Dart loves good test scores. Its a great choice if you like community and the CS department is good for undergrad since there is a lot of security research, which is a hot area. If you want a more urban environment its clearly not that, although I feel the campus community and active social scene more than make up for it. I am biased though : )

I want a 5.0 GPA. Wouldn't that be awesome? Yes it would. I would be glad. But I don't have a 5.0 GPA. So any more opinions on just how measly my chances are at ivy-caliber schools?
