Stanford EA? OR Princeton ED?

colleges considering: stanford, princeton, harvard, cornell, Cal, UCLA, UCSD
GPA: W:4.5 UW:3.91
SAT I: V:660 M:800 W:680 e:10
SAT II: MATH IIC:800, KOREAN:800, PHYSICS:700 (take again), and Spanish
AP tests: AP CALC BC-5 (AB sub: 5), APUSH -4, AP chem -3
Took all the possible AP& honors in our school except AP French

I no both stanford princeton, havard, cornell are stretches
but I might as well try
which one should I apply early for better chances, Stanford EA or Princeton ED?

p.s: i'm really in need of financial aid. I'm considered (don't ask me why) an international student and Stanford is not able to apply need-blind policy for me. So I'm kinda leaning toward princeton... what do you guys think? Do I have at least a little chance?

Chances don't look so hot. It's much harder to get in as an international as well.

What can I do to improve my chances?

FYI: Cal, UCB, and UCLA offer no aid to international students.

Frankly, you have a very low chance of acceptance at either schools. Do you have any remarkable awards, recognized research, or extracurricular activities? Additionally, if English is not your first language, consider taking the TOEFL.

Anyhoo, I would go with Princeton ED because of its needblind policy.

EC:
President - Asian club for 3 years
Treasurer- math club 2 years
Mock Trial- pretrial attorney- 2 years (got an award for tremendous improvement)
Varsity tennis for 4 years
Junior varsity basketball 1 year (Our school won the California championship last year)
Internship - UCSC with Ph.d students (with Dean of engineering department hosting them)
Leadership camp - 2005 Stanford
Community services - ~600hours
Hospital - information desk - ~400 hours
Library - ~200hours
Tutor - Math - 11th grade
- Spanish - 11th grade
And I've been helping the family business(everyday afterschool) for last 4 years that I've stayed in America
Took a lot of classes @ community college
Toastmaster - 1 year (best table topic award - 2 times)

What are my chances for: Cal, UCLA, UCSD, Cornell, Stanford, Harvard and Princeton?

P.S: I'm taking TOEFL the day after tomorrow....expecting perfect score
Also, I'm taking physics (maybe AND Spanish) SAT II on OCT and hope to score around 750 on both...
What else can I do to increase my chances?
Thanks alot

You will be rejected everywhere except for UCSD (maybe rejected there too)

try stanford ea, make less competition for the rest of us...lol

iwantfood, are you serious???
Then I am sooo depressed....on what basis r u making that judgement?

I do think that Princeton and Stanford are big reaches for you, but not impossible ones. The thing is, even a domestic applicant would be far from a shoo-in with your stats (not that they aren't good) and it is harder for internationals. That being said, I was also shocked by iwantfood's assessment of your chances. Certainly, I think you have a reasonable chance at Cornell and UCLA.

I'd say the best way for you to improve your chances right now is to retake the SAT to try to improve your verbal scores. I understand that English is not your first language, but there are non-native speakers who manage to pull off incredible verbal scores. If you could get it up to a 700, that would be helpful. Good luck!

You are international.
-The competition for international financial aid applicants is fierce (unless you are mexican or canadian citizen for cornell, then they are need blind).
-Admissions from out of state for the UCs is incredibly intense. What do you think it's like for internationals? Even if you get in, I'm not sure they will give you any money.
-Nothing on your application make you stand out for you to be competitive for HP, especially if you are an international.

Your SATs and APs are marginal for HPS even if you were domestic.

Your stats should be something like this:
GPA: W:4.5 UW:3.91
SAT I: V:780 M:800 W:750 e:12
SAT II: MATH IIC:800, KOREAN:800, PHYSICS:800
AP tests: AP CALC BC-5 (AB sub: 5), APUSH -5, AP chem -5

If I was a citizen or permanent resident,
is my chance of gettin in get a lot better all the colleges?
Can u give opinion for my choices with citizen or PR status?

I'd say stanford, princeton, harvard are all big reaches for you if you were citizens due to your SAT scores. YOu have a better chance at Cornell and solid chance at the UCs (if you live in Cali)

i dont think his chances are that bad...my friend who got 1410 SAT (old form-800 Maths and 610 Verbal), about 700 with the three SAT II was accepted by Stanford with a decent financial package (she only has to pay 5000 US $ a year including room and board). Welll I must say she's got an exceptional character, but considering here in VN we dont have many kinds of ECs to do, I dont think her profile is outstanding. She must have conveyed her personality through her essays.
Therefore, rupang, I think youve still got some chances ^^

Three advices: Essay, essay, and essay

KP!!!

rupang if you haven't taken the SAT I: New one by now it's kind of late

uh....I said I've got 660,800 and 680 with 10 on esssay..... r u saying that it's not enough?

Why not try Brown, Columbia, Northwestern, or Vandy?

My dear KP rupang:

I was referring to college entrance essay.

Jung Shin Char Ryu !!!

KP !!!

Goldfish: I'm not applying to those schools because those schools simply don't simply interest me enough

Bangoo: where are u applying to? lend a hand to ur KP

I am really depressed....
Are my chances THAT bad??? T.T
