Stanford gpa calculation

I have quite a few questions. First of all I was wondering how does Stanford calculate your highschool gpa with a source from Stanford. Second I was wondering if I took a highschool class in ninth grade class (alegebra 1 and Latin 1) in eight grade will this count towards my gpa. Third I was wondering how much lower of gpa and act and sat would Stanford allow an athletic recruit. Fourth my school grades by
A+ - 97-100 - 4.2
A - 94-96 - 4.1
A- :90-93 - 4.0
Lastly just tips in general for a freshman because I’m trying to get into the best school possible and don’t want to mess anything up.

Also I wasn’t sure what section to put this under so if it’s in the wrong section that’s my bad

Oh and another thing is that what subjects would be put into the gpa? Would they put Latin in?

They used to. Whether they still do or not, I don’t know. If they do, any UW grade higher than 4.0 will be calculated as 4.0, as many HSs do not give A+ grades.

Few colleges are transparent in their admissions policies, including if the recalculate GPAs and how they do it. Stanford is no exception. If you want a source, call them: (650) 723-2091. Personally, I’d suggest you file under “it is what it is” because you have no control over it. Get all As, and the question becomes moot.

No college cares about grades you received in 8th grade. And Stanford does not focus on 9th grade grades.

It depends. It depends on the student. It depends on the sport. It depends on the position. If/when you develop into an athletic recruit, you can ask the coach recruiting you.

You’re way too early to stress on this. Take the hardest classes you can handle. Explore some ECs. Get good grades.

I moved to the right place.

Yes. They focus on grades in core subjects: English, math, science, history/social science, foreign language.

Thanks this is a big help but just to be clear even though it is a highschool class if I took it in eigth grade it won’t count towards my unweighted gpa?

I can’t tell you what you HS includes in your GPA, but colleges, if the recalculate GPA, will count the grades by the year taken, not the level. Even if a college does not recalculate GPA, and even if an 8th grade class appears on your HS transcript, colleges will either ignore it, or greatly diminish its importance. Bottom line, a grade received in eighth grade will not keep you out of any college.

Also I was wondering if stanford only cares about grades 10th, 11th, and 12th does this mean they want your gpa from these years?

Stanford will recalculate your GPA on their own. Report whatever is on your transcript.

They want you entire HS transcript. If more than one HS, they want all your HS transcripts. What they do with them after you send is out of your control.
