Stanford Likely Letter

@phantasmagoric - Hey, thanks! That’s probably the explanation. I think he falls into the 100-120 exceptional, non-athlete. I guess it’s Stanford’s way of jumping the gun on all the others he is likely to be accepted by. To my knowledge as a result he has decided to attend. So this Admissions tactic obviously works! Wow, there is SO much nuance behind the scenes.

Congrats to all the Stanford likely letter recipients! You really deserved it and keep up the great work! I do have two questions for you guys:

Have you received any other school’s likely letters other than Stanford’s?

I assume Stanford sent out LL through postal correspondence. When was the letter dated?

More information on Stanford’s LL. So I went back to last year’s Stanford’s LL thread there seemed to be two waves of likely letters, one in mid-Feb and another in early-march. But I don’t know if they are going to change the system this year.

@phantasmagoric Thank you for the explanation! This is sooooo awesome!!

@aegsch Do you think you can provide a link to last year’s Stanford Likely Letter thread? I’d like to take a look at it if possible.

I got mine dated Feb. 11th, and a kid in Alabama got his dated January 27th. So, it’s pretty amazing how Stanford does this. Congrats to all those admittees. See you all during the Admit Weekend in April!

I also got a likely letter from Dartmouth on the same day. dated Feb. 11th.

I heard that Harvard sent their likely letters out last week, so check your mails people :)

Can any of the likely letter recipients post their stats? (GPA, SAT/ACT Scores, EC’s and etc…)

Please post your ethnicity I just want to see if any URM’s received one.

Thanks

Is it true that Stanford mails out two waves of likely letters? The first being in February and the second in March?

lalafilter: Harvard almost always precedes its likely letters with phone calls, just so you know.

Stanford’s does send waves of letters; I met others who got theirs at a different time. (I also received similar letters from Yale and Harvard, so they’re pretty good at guessing which schools you applied to / will get into, I think.)

For Stanford likely letter recipient (15’), please let us know when was the letter dated? Also something interesting I found is that if you are in a pilot interview area, Stanford will only sends out LL upon the completion of your interview report.

i didn’t do an interview for Stanford, maybe because I live in Michigan…
anyways, as long as we don’t screw up in the final semester, we’re in, soooo… yay

I think Stanford should send out another wave of likely letters in march. I think they do it 3 times, January, February, and March… although getting it in March is sorta the same as getting it at the end of March. Just keep checking those mail boxes!!!

If you are from Michigan, message me if you got into any of the ivys or somewhere close to that!!!

Are the likely letters for RD applicants only? Or do they send them out to REA applicants before the December 10th admissions decision release date?

lalafilter20, Wow!!! That is huge. Congrats. Are you one of the intel finalist?

@lalafilter20, Hey I’m from Michigan too! What part of Michigan do you live in? Yeah, I know there are no Stanford alumns around my area. For Yale I had a phone interview. And for Harvard and Princeton, I had to drive two hours away for the closest alum. Two of the three said it was their first time interviewing. Haha. But anyways, congrats on Stanford and Dartmouth! I got matched to Yale through QuestBridge, got accepted to Stanford, and am waiting on Harvard, MIT, and Princeton. How about you?

@mmichaels, DANG!!! I’m in the rich part of michigan, Birmingham/Bloomfield Hills.
I got Stanford and Dartmouth and I’m waiting on Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Yale, etc… I got interviewed by Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Yale, Brown, Cornell, and U
penn. My MIT and Princeton interviewers were class of 2007. hahaha, explains their age and experience. Are you planning on attending Admit Weekend for Stanford? What school do you go to? I go to Lahser, next to International Academy, if you heard of that school.

@lalafilter20, Yeah, I hope to go to Admit Weekend. It sounds so much fun! Wow, you must have a lot of motivation to apply to all of those schools. I applied to 5, and it seemed like a lot keeping track of everything to each school. I live in the Upper Peninsula and there’s such scarce number of alums from Ivy’s here, it’s kind of sad. Haha. I’m not too familiar with many schools in the Lower Peninsula, sorry. Are you familiar with any schools in the U.P.?

As far as I uderstand, no college sends likely letters to the early pool applicants. The early cycle is too short for that.

@mmichaels im not so familiar with upper schools, so… yea… hahaha, i know just few. besides, what else r u waiting on?

Browsing last year’s posts, I found that there will be another wave of Stanford likely letter right before March 15th. Good luck everyone!

A friend just got a likely, and since we’re in nor cal, there might be another wave coming up.

I got an early approval from Stanford. The letter was dated March 4th. I’m not sure if this is the “likely letter” you guys are talking about…Is it still only “likely” if it says specifically that they have already admitted you and have reserved a position in the freshmen class for you and blah blah blah?
I have don’t have anything going on aside from this, nothing from Harvard or Princeton or Yale.
@lalafilter20 and @mmichaels: You two sound pretty amazing. I bet your resumes are all jacked up.
