Stanford REA & Boston University President Scholarship

If you apply Stanford REA, does it prevent you from applying RD at Boston University for President scholarship (due date 12/1)? Our counselor tells us that you cannot apply to another scholar for scholarship early, if you applied Stanford REA.

No, you can.

haha what a coicidence: i’m applying for the same two things exactly!

Counselor also told us the same thing. If you apply under REA, then u cannot apply to any Scholarship program for which you have to submit the application early.

That is FALSE. Stanford says you may not apply to any other EARLY ACTION programs. Those programs are NOT letting you know your decision any earlier, so it’s fine. This question has been addressed often.

^agreed. You can even technically apply to any other school before November 1st if they allow it, so long as it’s officially labeled RD. That way, though you submitted it early, it will still be considered in the RD pool.

Wording on Stanford website is ambiguous. How do we get it clarified officially?

It’s not ambiguous at all. You may not apply early action/decision anywhere else. Simple as that.

According to their website " The student may not apply to an Early Action,Restrictive Early Action, or Early Decision program (or any variation thereof) at any private college/university in the U.S.

This restriction includes applications for scholarships or special academic programs where the college/university requires the student to apply under an early notification plan for consideration."

So, if you have to submit application early for scholarship even though it is a RD, it is not allowed. You can always call admission office and verify.

Dude, it says “under an EARLY NOTIFICATION plan” You will not be notified early at all, thus, you’re fine.
