Teacher Recommendations: Should be really good

Choice: Stanford is my number 1 choice school

if there's anything else i should post to assist you, let me know
and thanks so much for your time and help

Retake SAT1 to up your critical reading, and hopefully your writing. It looks like the coach/counselor stuff are really good. Boys state is supposed to look good. Your volunteer crap looks good. Playing a sport (basketball) is probably good.

I've seen people get in with less, and rejected with more.

I'd say it's a reach.

thanks atillazehun! is there anything else you think i could do to improve my chances besides upping my critical reading?? (which i definitely plan on doing) and what should a goal be for CR for me?

try to pull it to 700 if you can.

If you take some time, you'll realize that you are probably just overthinking critical reading. Math/Science oriented people try to find the most logical answer, and sometimes that isn't it. With some work, you should be able to get 750+. You can miss a lot of questions, (I missed 6) and still get an 800. A 2300+ isn't out of the realm of possibility, and it would definitely help. I'm a math/science person myself, and I found the ACT much easier. You should look into it.

Honestly, the only thing I don't see is a "hook" like those I've been seeing around here. You obviously don't need one to be accepted, but the word on the street is that it is a big help. Being an over represented minority, you need to find a way to separate yourself from the pack. In my opinion, your ECs, besides basketball work, are very plain. Perhaps your coaching (hidden leadership abilities) is your hook?

Many students focus on one big thing, a super project (Siemens, Research, Athletics, Olympiad, Writing) and make that their hook to reel in adcoms. I didn't feel you knew what yours was when I read your post.

Again, I'm just getting into this material myself, but this is what I've noticed so far.

thanks i see what you mean about the 'hook.' Is there anything i can do about it to help me???

and does anyone else have any input??? PLEASE just chance me and give me advice it only takes a lil bit

I say you stand a DECENT chance as long as you up that SAT score above 2200+

Well, nothing is too remarkable. Good stats, but there's nothing that really stands out to me... Make sure that your essays are amazing; I hear that they're important to Stanford.

how would i make something 'stand out' persay?? what do i need to do more??

is it harder to get in SCEA or RD?? what would be better for me to apply to??

check on stanford's website- they usually say the percent admittance variations between the two; usually, however, they are roughly the same.

i would say find something to really stand out to admissions officers beyond the numbers-- find a meaningful internship

thanks apatel. i was thinking of something sort of along those lines, would it be good if i shadowed a doctor??

cummon guys there has to be more people who can respond

. thanks to everyone who took the time to respond and thanks to those who will take the time to give me constructive advice

Just so you know, the school doesn't offer biomedical engineering either.

ya you're right ^ but i still would be doing something along the lines of that or biochem or any other predictable premed majors
