I've been looking around for a while for a summer program that offers advanced courses in chemistry, and turns out there's one just 45 minutes away from me at Stanford (Summer at Stanford University: High School and College Summer Programs). The thing is, the requirement for the class I would want to take is a 5 on the AP Chemistry exam. I took the exam my sophomore year, but at the time I was seriously suicidal and clinically depressed. I actually missed the normal exam date because I was in the hospital, and I wasn't able to take the exam until a week or so after I was released. Anyway, I got a 4 on the exam. I'm fine with that score, but it saddens me that this would be a reason that I couldn't take this Stanford course. Do you think there's any way that I could petition for an exception, or at least the ability to take an exam to prove that I know my stuff? I absolutely adore chemistry, and all I want is to be able to spend my summer learning chem with people who are on the same level as I am. Thanks for your help!
