what's everyone else doing this summer?

roughly how many CCers will be transferring to Stanford?

the transfer advisor noted that 72 people were admitted out of around ~1400 applicants. sick.

Not to be a bastard, but would any of you guys mind posting basic stats (GPA, current college, major, SATs)? Thanks.

YEAH...and i also want know how much they weigh SAT scores, high school stats if you plan on transferring as a junior.

you can retrieve my stats from a previous thread...but i'm a junior transfer who will be attending stanford in the fall

catcher- could you be more specific?which thread is it in?

just click on his name and go to other posts, you can do a little detective work.

I actually did before i asked him.

caa, pm me with questions.

catcher- check your pms.

What's everyone doing about bikes? Just wondering. Are you ordering one from the campus bike shop? Shipping from home? Buying a cheap one from walmart/target?

I have one at home, but I dont know what'll be cheaper... shipping it and having the bike shop put it together or just buying a new one there.

is it really the case that the overwhelming majority of stanford students use bikes?

yea....there are like 20,000 bikes at Stanford. the campus is sooo huge that it is almost necessary to have one. I am planning on buying a walmart bike for like $160 or so. The Bike shop there is expensive (bikes tend to be around $275+), and its not like we are going to be riding on mountainous terrain or something.

bball: Stanford's acceptance rate is lower than Harvard's and higher than Yale's. I was rejected by Harvard and accepted to Yale and Stanford. Where are you going to be this fall?
[/quote]

I dunno if that means too much. This year I was accepted by Columbia (120ish admits this year) but rejected by Cornell (700ish). It's more than just a numbers game.

Congrats to those who are going, by the way. It's a pretty kickass school from what I hear.

Jacobian- you said you will either major in math or physics at stanford. Are you a sophomore transfer or a junior transfer? Did you apply "undecided" or does Stanford give you the option to pick a major even as a transfer applicant?

junior transfer. they give you the option to mark 3 (I think) concentrations that interest you. It's not binding -- I still haven't figured out what exactly I want to do-- but I think they just want to get the feel for which direction you want to head @ Stanford (math/science vs. humanities etc.).

wait so when you say only 70 ish out of over 1000 were accepted, do you mean out of all transfers? (soph & jr. tranfers both included)? And does that mean that half of those accepted were soph transfers & half jr. transfers?

72 accepted this year out of more like 1400 or so of both soph/jr transfer applicants. they don't really give any breakdown on the soph/junior status of admitted transfers though -- but I doubt that it would be perfectly even 50-50, or heavily lopsided either.
