Well I am applying as a transfer student to Stanford and this thread is for anyone who knows about the transfer process or can help those who are interested in transferring.

If you are applying for transfer admission to Stanford lets start getting in touch with others who will also be going through the same process.

Since Stanford only accepts about 20-30 transfer applicants a year the chances are really slim, but it's all in the determination of the applicant.

So lets begin this ivy league application process.

Judging by your previous posts, it seems that you’re already transferring to USC? And you’re already thinking about transferring to Stanford even before starting anew at a USC? What’s your reason for this? Frankly, Stanford is also going to have doubts and not look favorably upon your decision.

I’m still not sure whether I’m going to apply here. I mean it would be so sweet to get in, but besides good stats, I haven’t done anything amazing in my life. I feel like the only accepted transfers will have done things like start their own businesses, or cured something.

First of all i know Stanford is not an Ivy, what i meant is that the application process is gonna be just as tough. Only about 1-2% of applicants get admitted, I am just applying because its something i have to try. I chickened out last year while i was applying to USC and so guess its worth a shot.

im pretty sure that this year is no different than any other year for transfer to stanford. what hmom5 probably meant was that since “behold” was already accepted at usc last year as a transfer, it is nearly impossible to apply for transfer to any other school because thats kind of a bad rep.

Well I was thinking of sending in an application as I love Stanford, but I know my chances would be dismal and wouldn’t be worth my time atm. Maybe I’ll apply for grad school though, but good luck to those applying!

For transfers, Stanford <3 community college kids/nontraditionals.

If you are a traditional 4-yr college student, then unless you have something distinctive along the lines of olympic medalist/record producer/whatnot, I can say with almost 100% certainty that you are wasting your application money.

Well I just want to say that Behold is not alone in this, I am also planning on transferring to Stanford and i have just transfered to another university. I think that doing a second college transfer is not something that is going to make the committee deny you if you have good stats. Yeah the school is competitive but its called dreaming and if filling out an application is the first step then why not go for it in my opinion!!!

do i have to give any kind of standardized testing, SAT, ACT for Stanford transfer ?,even though I have done 2 years of community college at an accredited institution. ??

I have done much in life in terms of business and experience, except playing sports and community service ? what are my chances ?

Yes, Stanford is very explicit that transfers students need to submit SAT or ACT scores (doesn’t matter if you have 2 years at an accredited institution).

You need to figure out a hook - something that makes you stand out in a crowd, a passion, something.

Stanford takes 20 - 40 transfers a year lately. They get about 1200 transfer applications. We can assume that MOST of those applicants are reasonably strong applicants. The game is to figure out a way to get the committee excited about YOUR application. What makes you stand out against a crowd of 1200 other “good and great” students?

Like I said in my last post - you already have the basics “goods” – but so does the majority of the other 1200 applicants fighting for one of those 20 spots.

You need to tailor your application and essays to highlight something about yourself that is unique, passionate, interesting and gets the committee excited about your application.

hitgirltransfer - why do you want to leave upenn? you’re trying to go from one elite school to a different one. this could help in that your HS stats are good and you’re performing well at a great school, but they might wonder what your intentions are. i’m also curious.

@ironicallyunsure - I’m hoping to transfer to Stanford because I kind of want to be closer to my family. But at the same time I’m trying to transfer to Yale because they have a really prestigous Law School which I’m hoping the Yale undergraduate feeds into. I have nothing against my own university. I do really enjoy the city life, being in an Ivy League, and having a soccer scholarship but I’m just trying to think about the oppurtunities for my future. I believe that going to either Stanford or Yale can assist me with oppurtunities for Law School.
