Stanford vs Yale

Sigh. I really despise racists.

UNC-Asheville is a public university who is fairly selective and able to maintain a 4000 student body. Yet, they rank as the 4th best liberal arts school in the country! Do they do this by accepting Albert or Pythagoras? Acourse not, www.unca.edu see for yourself

wow, that is kind of infammitory

john hopkins - not ivy league

aliens free ride - they use the federal forms for aid so that isnt possible

caucasian citizens no aid - well, that is not true, for top schools it isnt even
merit (which is what role aa would play) it is all from your ability to pay

stanford doesnt compete - cal has the best state education system in the world you get more compition when your other option is ucb that is better than most ivy leauges and is 20000 less

there no racism involved. This is a problem Americans are refusing to acknowledge. Where did I display a swastika in that entry? The fact is that in a selection to any school. If you are black, you automatically get 20 points towards you. All over these forums, people agree on the same concept. Hell, even people in admissions go publicly about it. Do the research! Did you know that there is a scholarship out there if at the time of birth, your mom had jumped the border from mexico to el paso and popped you out. Explain that!

there is also a scholorship for tall people, left handed people, etc, etc. Not to mention the whole legacy thing

are you going to attack all of those injustices or are you just going to pick and choose witch ones so they conform to your outlook and pent up fustraction towards people of different ethicities

no mr bako. My problem that I wish to enlighten is providing scholarships which promote defiance of federal immagration laws.

Thats like me going into San Fran and opening up a lemonade stand refusing to serve anyone unless they are gay

Wow! You're actually racist. What does that feel like? I'm just curious. Anyway, I'm white and I got a full ride to Berkeley. What do you have to say about that?

1) i am certin that no mother is going to say "hey I won't be able to get a special scholorship unless I cross the border so I better go" thus it does not promote that sort of action. It recognizes that it is not the childs fault and attempts to help with a situation that is difficult

2) http://www.philosophicalgourmet.com/topresearch.htm ucb is a top university that in grad programs rivils any. I cant find the link but the times higher education suppuliment ranked it 3 in the world (as they dont prefer priverate schools with their oxford/cambridge).

3) affirimateive action is based on the idea that diversity is important in college and while i would like to see more attention towards background rather than skin color you have to agree that colleges should have the flexiblity to not just be forced to accept based on top test scores and grades. A 1470 means nothing more than a 1450 but I feel, as do most students, that having a follow students who came from a different place with a different environment furthers the goal of a broad and exposing education. Race is merely a part of that environment factor.

1.It doesn't promote this sort of action ok. Let's say Rooster's mom had crossed the river and gave birth to him, and because of that. He, his mom, and dad are granted citizenship because they broke immigration laws. Meanwhile, they call pablo back home and tell him of a brilliant plan to come over the river and do the same thing. It works for pablo to. Then pablo calls hose, and all his other muchachoes and tells them of this new way of getting into the u.s. And before long ,we have 20 million crossing the river and coming on boats. Are you saying that this scholarship does not promote more illegal immigration? No the mother is not saying in her mind, I will not be able to get a special scholarship if I do not cross the river, instead, she is saying, I will not get citizenship to the USA if I do not cross the river and give birth to my unborn. And I will not get welfare, free medicare, and special treatment. No, it is not the childs fault. But how many times is an american kid turned away from a college because of the color of his skin? Because that 20 extra points that he or she didn't get made or broke them into the acceptance process. you have a student from puertorican american and a caucasian applying for the same school. They meet the same criteria and they are neck in neck on testing and everything. Well, brittney gets declined an equal opportunity education because Miguel is of foreign decent so he gets that extra 20 points in the election process eliminating her entirely. Meanwhile it was her forefathers who died and gave their lives to establish this system of so called freedom and equality we call america. All miguel had to do move from his island to the coast.

gentle lucky you, your one of 300 million. Now lets help the rest shall we?

42 another thing, you are very funny. You go from saying Berkeley is the best in the country to the best in the world. First, Harvard is the best in the country. Second, by no chance will berkeley ever rival the established universities of oxford and cantebury, cambridge. These universities were the educators of the ancestors of our forefathers who founded our country. But you probably don't consider that do you. Sorry but

variety is good, especially diversity. But in number 3. you are justifying that people should be admitted to the universities based on their skin just so we can add alittle diversity to the campus? What kind of BS am I reading. What happened to competition. That is sheltered under the free ride policy punk. No one should be accepted based on skin color, rather they should be accepted based on their potential ,skill, and knowledge. It is people like you who screw this country up. Pretty much, you are saying and showing the finger to all majority people in this country and say to bad! your white, you can't come in here, we like diversity, i don't care who you are, how smart you are, minority rights!" You wanna talk about racism, you are the ones that are racist. When I think of this, I don't view it as battle of the races. Rather, competition based souly on each individuals abilities.Meanwhile, all you fruitcakes can do is sit there and justify a corrupt system instead of offering solutions to fix it and create equility. Personally, I would rather deport you and open up the door to an individual and offer citizenship to someone else who is willing to work for things rather then have it handed to them on a silver platter. You shouldn't even call yourself American

you my friend dont even have the right to talk, coming from a TTT like asheville. you couldn't even get into the halfway-decent CH campus. treat far superior institutions like stanford and cal with more respect.

north carolina eh? no wonder you're such a racist. go farm some "tobaccer."

hey FaustianPact, im from nc as well (asheville in fact and im leaving for stanford).

He doesnt even go to unca he goes to abtech, a cc. Asheville is actually a very liberal city which is probably why eaglemax has to vent all his rage on the stanford admission board in a thread entitled "stanford vs yale"

oh, sorry about that. i know alot of the nc college towns are predominantly liberal, but hearing his idiotic posts made my jump to the nc=racist conclusion.

as a matter of fact my my little peasant "FAct" I am not from NC but from upstate ny. And you are going to rat on North Carolinians now? I love all you **** talkers over the internet. 42 is right, he is from Asheville and he goes to UNC-gAy . He is headed out to sanfransisco so he can find some bigger sausage to pack himself with. As for Asheville being a liberal city, speak for yourself punk, the majority of this city is made up of people from other places like florida, ny, tx. So take your treehugging *** over to sanfran and tac a billboard on the golden gate bridge tell all your pirate friends to celebrate your arrival u sick dog.

You'll fit right in there fine

also, anyone who says einstein and pythagoras are not worth acknowledging is a moron. who should we listen to, bill frist and the kkk?

the great state of california

12th largest economy in the world

home of 2 of the finest universities in the world (and a technical institute)

also intelligent, clearminded people

Hey Ace, I wasn't stating that UNC Chapel Hill is an IVY League school. It is a nickname that many affiliate with it because it is up there knocking on the doors of the elite schools. One such source that stated this was the Princeton Review. Look it up. Secondly? Level the playing field? Since whites are the majority, most of the poverty lies within this race also. And also consider this! Within another 20 to 50 years, whites are going to become predecessors to the majority and be replacedby Latin speaking peoples. Level the playing field? No one should have things handed to them on a silver platter. If someone is not fully Elite Material but they got accepted based on skin color. They have no right being there. You speak like this because you have yet to put 5 kids through college being a caucasian father. Imagine paying for all 5 kids college tuition and having the government refuse any help to you because you make to much! Meanwhile, they take 40 percent of your paychecks and give others a free ride. Not only are you having to flip the bill for your own kids tuition, but you also pay for other people to go to school! Your own kids have the same entitlement. So analyze all aspects before chimming in with bs. Affir act. has great supporting arguments. I even support diversity in schools. But to break the poverty trend, a poor minority doesn't have to be educated by Harvard or Princeton. They can get an equivalent degree from a state university. Earn just as much money in a similiar profession and potentially more. The few slots open in our so called elite schools should remain open for simply the best. Disregard race. If a minority or caucasian does not meet the standards. Then to bad. No one should be denied the rights to an education by being knocked out by a less qualified person based on skin color. That is racism! Funny, ivy league are said to be wealthy individuals and the most successful. Yet, we have the most wealthiest people in the country consisting of high school dropouts, college dropouts, and more. Was it because of their education? Acourse not! Breaking out of the poverty cycle can be done in numerous ways. ALot of them choose to remain in that lifestyle because it is all they know, and they choose not to take action. They enjoy the free ride of "Welfare" which once again comes back and hurts the middle class more then anyone else. For every point I make, you will find opposition, and I will find an opposing view point to that. The only thing considered here is what is the moral thing to do? And this question can only be answered based on how you define morals my friend. Assuming you have them. Most people refuse to discuss these issues because they are accused of being racist. It is equality, not racism. A girl gets kicked out of school in Wisconsin because she wants to have a white heritage month? Meanwhile, Blacks, Hyspanics, and Asians are entitled to certain days and months in their own names but whites can't? Who founded this country? Inequality. If you choose to call me a white supremist, let it be so. In my and millions of other Americans mind, it is called defending our freedoms which our ancestors fought so dearly to protect. The rights to carry arms will be useful when they come to take them away from us.
