Thank you all for your input, even those of you who think I’m just looking for an “ego rub.” I know my stats are good, and that’s not why I am here. I don’t know how my big picture looks because as you can see my EC really sucks, and as shore said, I AM a typical Asian applicant. Also, there are more than ten kids from my school applying pretty much to those same colleges, and they all have better stats than I do and some have much better EC. Would that hurt my chances as well?
I have won a lot of awards in MAO and yes I know it doesn’t really say that much, especially compared to the USAMO. I really messed up on my AMC, so I didn’t even make it to the AIME. I really would not be upset at all if I don’t get into MIT though. I’ve been surrounded by math nerds for much too long. In fact, I think I might not eve apply to MIT. They don’t do CommonApp anyway.
Haha and no I have not been gearing everything I do towards making an Ivy since ninth grade. If I did I wouldn’t have quit band. I was actually really good at the clarinet. I made Florida All-State band two years before I quit and I would have been woodwind colonel at least, probably drum major if I wanted to, if I was still in band. Are you guys implying that quitting band would actually boost my admission chances? That would be so amazing, because I thought I committed admission-suicide when I did that.
