Hey guys i want to know you opinion on Stanford, academics and all , what do you think about the financial aid offered to international students ?
Stanford is one of the best universities in the world. It’s very, very, very, very hard to get into even for Americans, and for internationals who need financial aid the odds are under 1% since Stanford is need-aware (but does meet need).
Essentially, unless you won an international award/prize, such as Math Olympics or Olympic Games, your odds as a FA-seeking international are virtually nil.
There’s some leeway only if you come from an under-represented country (Vanuatu, Namibia) but odds are still 1 in 100…
I think it would be more realistic (and still not entirely accurate) to consider yourself in comparison to 1 in 1,000 students as a domestic applicant and 1 in 10,000 as an international applicant.
It’s 100% need met if accepted, but extremely hard to get into/
@paul2752 can you explain why it is hard to get in ? can you tell me what can increase my chances of admission besides not applying for financial aid ?
Even if it’s not one of the finest universities in the world, an awful lot of people seem to think so. Consequently, it receives applications from many of the top students every year. That makes the competition intense.
Being a really good student will increase your chances of admission.

Okay, it is hard, but you never know. Luck is also a major factor for applicants who don’t have a very impressive accolade/accomplishment under their belt.
