Stanford's EPGY summer Institute Prestigious or not?

I recently got accepted into the Stanford University's EPGY Summer Institute. (investigations in Business Program)

https://epgy.stanford.edu/summer/index.html

So I was wondering should I go for this or not, as many people say its not that prestigious, even though their application process was really long and time consuming. Anyone have any ideas about this being prestigious or not?

You should search CC’s summer programs forum for more information.

To be honest, getting accepted and being able to take courses there shows you nothing.
So many people do EPGY, and it’s relatively easy to get in.

It’ll only be worth it when you are trying to show that you have a stronger background in business than other applicants

My D attended for Particle Physics. Learned a lot and found it challenging. Plus she had a great time. This course also helped her so she could self-study for AP Physics C since the course is not offered at her HS.

You should attend if you feel the subject matter you were accepted for would help you futher your studies and follow your passion. Whether a program is prestigous or not is dependent upon others opinions and not everyone has the same opinion.

Well I wanted to go for Quantum Physics or Particle physics, but they didn’t accepted me into that program, instead they accepted me into the business program (Which I kept as my 3rd option) And so that is the reason I am confused that should I spend $6000 for this EPGY program or not? Will it look better on college applications or instead I should just stay home and do some other community services or get a job?

^ it depends. It seems that you are more interested in physics than business so I would suggest five options:

 1. Take the EPGY course anyway. The program isnt that bad and the program is reasonably fun.

Contact professors at your local college and try to do physics research with them this summer.

Get a job.

Get involved with community service related to physics somehow.

Take summer classes at your local community college or 4 year college.

Note that the last four options arent mutually exclusive. Hope this helps.

Idk about prestigious.
Expensive? Sure.

Thanks Hitman, I have to think about that. The deadline for the deposit for this is 24th Feb. So I have to make the decision by that time. Maybe if not than I will try to take a class at the Rutgers University which is less than $1000, much less than EPGY

Leafblade: yes its much expensive, have applied for Financial Aid, and they told that they will get back to me on Feb 10th. So hope they give more aid!

I went last year taking the legal studies course. I dont know about $6000, I thought it was $4400. I only went because I received a $2000 scholarship.
Program is alright, it’s for younger students though.
Not much freedom, strict curfew, strictly timed activites, etc.
Just not my type… Might be yours though.

And from what i know i doubt that it is highly selective.
But it was fun and you meet many new people.
