Stanford mentions on its website that it does not accept January testing scores. I find this a little strange since all Ivy league schools and other top-tier schools do. But since admission decisions aren't out until April, won't Stanford get my January score in time for consideration? Should I still go ahead and send my Jan score, after I submit my application? I should also clarify that I have taken the SAT reasoning test in October, however my score was well below my expectations (2130). Hence, I find it necessary to take it again in January. I'm taking my subject tests this December.

it’s your fault you didn’t plan to take them early, so why should they have to do extra work by waiting for you to take them again?
they have their own policies and aren’t going to change them just because you didn’t do as well as you expected.
they will likely get them in time for consideration, but may not consider them anyway. it’s also possible that they may have their initial screening about you before they get your scores.
Sorry, you should have planned better.

2130 isn’t a bad score! But if you’re considering retakes, your best bet is to CALL THEM or email them. I read somewhere that they do consider January scores, despite the website’s policy, so just check with them. That’s the best way to be sure. :)

2130 is a terrible score! How do you expect to get into a wonderful school like Stanford with such an atrocity???

jk… :D

lol! I actually din’t do any better (2150) but i’m content. You can actually send your Jan scores but they do not guarantee they will be considered. Though if the score report reaches them before they go over your file, chances are the score will be considered. I had the same issue with my SAT II scores (did the November test), but since I have applied EA, I was not sure they’d accept them. But an admission officer told me that when I get my score, I should fax them a copy of my score report as well as send them through collegeboard and if my application has not already been finally deliberated on, they’ll consider my scores. :)

itsmylife, no need to rely on luck–prep a lot with the College Board blue book and get your Jan. SAT scores up as much as possible. Luck favors those who prepare, after all. : ) A significantly higher SAT will boost your chances at Stanford and its peer colleges.

itsmylife- Consider not submitting your application until the last moment. That way, your application shall be reviewed later, hopefully after your scores have arrived.
