STAR day

Does anyone know what’s entailed with STAR day? I am aware that, and correct me if I’m wrong, the academic advising, course registration, and the photo for the RU id happen at the STAR day program, but that can’t take seven hours, right? What else can or should I expect?

You'd be suprised how much can be filled in 7 hours:)

I don't know what goes on during STAR day, but I went to the academic planning day and within 7 hours there was:

A greeting for new students at the gym

Presentation at both Scott Hall or Van Dyke where they explained about academic integrity (talked about consequences of cheating/plagarism) and graduation requirements

Meeting with orientation leaders where we asked questions to upperclassmen, took our photo IDs, and soon ate lunch with them.

Exploratory meetings for certain areas: Business, Education, Health, Law, Learning Communities, Liberal Arts

Then a separate meeting for the major your are considering

And lastly you chose your classes.

ALL OF THIS occurred within a span of 7 hours, so it is possible. I didn't think so at first either :)

Sorry, I'm not a transfer student, so I'm not really familiar with what goes on during the STAR day, but my guess is that it's basically like the academic advising day, but maybe with a few differences. I read that on STAR day that in addition to meeting with advisers, choosing classes, and presentations, you also learn how to use "degree navigator". SO, yeah :)

for transfer students you meet with a counselor (a "high ranking" transfer student) and they go over your credit evaluation. Never knew the STAR day would take 7 hours! lol
