A well-rounded, mature and talented young man and a member of the Class of 2010 at Princeton.

“McGinley says he's looking forward to his start at Princeton in the fall, although he says the Ivy League school has a lot of expectations to live up to.

"Over the years, McGinley has made a lasting impression on students and faculty alike, including Bruce Houghtaling, head of Senior School at Sewickley Academy, who knows McGinley is bound to go on and do great things.

"I had the pleasure of teaching him in a senior elective entitled 'The American Presidency'. He has written some brilliant papers on the lives of the four presidents we studied this semester, including a well documented piece on the role of religion in Washington's presidency," says Houghtaling.

"Brandon is also one of the best public speakers I've had the pleasure to know. As a junior he spoke on behalf of the Republican side during a debate in front of the entire school. His preparation and ability to speak coherently and with style brought him much praise from students and faculty, even those who disagreed with his positions.

"He was asked this year to address the Lower School students on the subject of what it means to be an honorable person. Such is the regard with which he is held by the Senior School," Houghtaling says.

"Brandon has excelled at Sewickley Academy not only because he is one of our top students, but his intellectual curiosity and capacity for hard work knows no bounds."

"He's leaning toward studies in history, economics or politics, but he has until his sophomore year to make a decision on his major.

"McGinley was awarded a National Merit Scholarship of $2,500 for his first year of college. In February, he was inducted into the Sewickley Academy's chapter of the Cum Laude Society.

"Brandon will excel at Princeton next year and it will not surprise anyone at Sewickley if he develops a national reputation beyond college," says Houghtaling.

"He's one of our best and brightest."
