starting a club at my school?

Hi! I'm going to be a high school junior and I am very interested in creating a club. However, I'm not exactly sure what kind of club to make. (1) I do know that I want there to be prerequisites for entering the club (a 80-85 % average, good citizenship) and (2) I also want my club to be the kind that does community service and (3) partners up with international organizations (like UNICEF and Operation Christmas Child). How would I combine these three attributes into a club?
I was thinking of making a NHS chapter but that focuses more on grades and less on service but I want my club to be more focused on service and helping ppl in other countries than on grades. Any ideas please? thankyou in advance.

What about Key Club? It is a committed to community service and it is affiliated with the Kiwannis service organization. If you want to focus on helping other countries, I would challenge the group to search out 2-5 charities that you wish to support each year and do fundraising around it. That way you can combine hands on volunteering on a local level with fundraising/awareness on a global level. I am not sure how your school would feel about making the club open to only high performing students, though. It seems to me that you will get the desired students because of the nature of the club (and the need for community service on college aps). By opening it up to a larger group, you don’t come off as elitist, and if someone outside the high performing target makes serious contributions, then you will have a broader perspective and learn through a more diverse environment.

that is a good idea but key club already exists at my school.

My school has a club devoted to Operation Smile. We organize fundraisers and donate the money to that cause. That might be something to look into if you’re interested in service.

I love the idea of “Operation Smile.” Thankyou! i’m gonna look it up right now.
