Hello, there is a club at my hs that does community service. Personally, I don’t like that club because it doesn’t really make a change in this world (my mostly priveleged town) and want to start my own club- a service and leadership club that discusses and deals with real world poverty centered issues. If I do start this club, and we accomplish our goals, would it higher my chances of getting into a top-notch school with a full ride (my circumstances qualify me for questbridge)?
If you solve world poverty, then yes.
Will starting a club do much? no
Will accomplishing goals help? Maybe
However, if you try to start a club at school, who ever approves clubs will say: We already have a service club…why don’t you join that? If you say “I don’t like what they do”, then they would say “Why don’t you get involved and change what they do?”
I am sure if you joined that club and say “I would like to start a project to thing, here is how I would set it up and here is how I would get people to help”, I bet they would be on board.
At least talk to the leaders of that club…I am sure they would be delighted to have someone who takes action.
And then you would have "Originated and Led project to Found a community closet for interview clothes. Raised $5000 through community donations and helped 50 people get new interview outfits. "
