Hey CC. FBLA and DECA are two activities that I would really enjoy participating in, however my school does not offer either of them. Is it possible for me to found a chapter at my school so that we could participate in either of the two activities? Can anyone please answer some of these questions I have:
Is it possible to get my school involved with either DECA/FBLA? If so, how would I go about doing so?
Can anyone tell me of any positive/negative experiences they have had and what the specific events or competitions you are involved with as a member?
What are the responsibilities of an officer?
Any other information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I’m not sure what DECA is but I can help you out with FBLA.

First, it would be good to go your state’s FBLA website. There could be a section for organizing a chapter, and that would help. But one of the most important is that you need to have an adviser to help you start it up. Find a teacher (maybe a Business one?) that would be dedicated to it. From there you can build one.

With competitions, the teacher needs to have background in them to help their students out with performing in them. Our adivser had bought tons of books to help all of us study depending on our event. That’s why being a Business teacher would help greatly.

With officers, you should at least have a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Maybe a Historian, too. How you pick them is completely up to you.

Do you know what else I would have to worry about besides finding an adviser and completing the registration form? Do you think if I hurry I could have the club up and running next year?
