Narrowing down colleges is by no means an easy process. With a major such as drama, there are many different factors to take into account, teachers, technique, venues, partnerships with local theatre companies, etc. I am looking for a college that has good academics, a strong drama program, and a thriving campus culture. My apologies if that sounds vague. What would be very helpful would be accounts on certain colleges that you have visited, what you noticed, or if you attended that college, what you liked/disliked about said college.

Do you have any constraints such as part of the country, urban or not, and cost? Are you looking for a BA program as opposed to a BFA program?

I am leaning towards a BA, I would prefer to avoid New York And Los Angeles, but that is something I can overlook. I am from San Diego and would kinda prefer a town like it, if that makes sense.

I’d suggest that you spend some time reading older posts in this forum. There is a wealth of information here. You might start with BA threads like this one:

Then if you have questions about specific programs, ask away!

I would recommend UMinn-Twin Cities’ BA. It’s open enrollment. Their BFA is very strong, and their BA doesn’t falter next to it. There are many opportunities since Minneapolis is the 2nd biggest theatre city next to NYC. I loved it there when I visited and have heard many great things about the BFA and BA. The school also places a strong emphasis on academics and education. The staff was very friendly.
