Sorry if the title is a little misleading. I couldnt think of anything else lol

Let's say I'm rejected from all the "target" schools on my list and have to go to the state school (a good public school, but not an IB target).

I know my best option would be to go to a good Masters program (eg Columbia MS Financial Engineering/Economics, Princeton MS Finance).

Would my best chance for admission to said MS program be with a degree from the business school (ie Finance) or a harder major (eg Math) to make up for the prestige gap?

Um, your best chance to get into IB from a good state school is NOT an MS - but rather, through networking, a high GPA and landing some relevant internships through school. An MS isn’t going to be a big help - an MBA from a top school will do it, but you won’t and shouldn’t want to get into one until after you’ve built up some FT work experience after u grad.

If you get an MS at a top school though (let’s say a masters in CS at Harvard), won’t you still be able to use Harvard’s superior on campus recruiting?
