Hello everyone, I am an incoming transfer student from a CCC to UC Irvine for fall 2018, my question is that, I moved from another country 2 years ago and i started at a CCC, my parents moved to California last year March and all of us have permanent resident green cards, bank accounts(in CA), medical insurance(in CA) and CA id cards, but both my parents have not filed any taxes because they are retired. Does that affect me from getting in state tuition?.
It sounds like you moved to CA for college and enrolled when your parents lived in another country. If that’s true, I think it makes you permanently ineligible to get in state rates. CA is pretty strict about their eligibility rules.
@austinmshauri that’s the thing as per UC residency policy guidelines, which requires that the student and the parent must have been physically present in California for 366 days, making CA their home by showing documents of intent. I think they satisfy the condition, and I did submit my slr, but it’s under review. I just wanted a another opinion. Thank you for the response.
366 days BEFORE enrolling in any college in California!
@TomSrOfBoston “The adult student and
one parent must be physically present in California on a continuous basis for at least 366 days
immediately prior to the Residence Determination Date (RDD) for the relevant term”
Residence determination date for fall.2018 is June 1, which is satisfied
Oh and this might be some important info too. I also worked here in CA part time in 2016 and 2017 and I also filed taxes in 2017, I also have a driver’s license and bank accounts active for 2 years now, so this might also help me show that I haven’t been in CA only for education.
