Statement of Legal Residence

If you claim to be a California resident for tuition purposes, the average time for completing the SLR is less than 20 minutes, although it can take longer if the system asks for additional information.

It took me about 25 seconds to complete and submit my SLR. Did I really really screw up somehow? I clicked yes for everything and then submitted; they didn't ask for anything else like

None of that. Now I'm really worried, because they said the average time to complete it would be 20 minutes... I am a California resident and US citizen, and so are my parents. I don't remember there being a "next page" button or anything like that. Plus, they wouldn't actually let me submit it if I hadn't filled everything out, right? Ahhhhhh

Many have had that experience of a very brief SLR interaction - think it has something to do with having gone to a known local California school, where they begin the process expecting that you are a legal resident. Worked out fine in all the cases I have heard about.

Ah, I see. That makes me feel much better, thank you!
We’ll just see what happens I guess

Mine took the same amount of time. I’m assuming that they will either have a more formal check later, or they take your word for it. I couldn’t really imagine someone lying about that.

I called the school and they said that if you answered yes to everything than it would only take about 20 seconds. I panicked when I submitted mine as well

pretty common for legitimately in-state applicants filing the SLR.

Oh good to see I’m not the only one with a quick SLR. I panicked since it was so short!

My parents and I are California residents and US citizens. My parents will move out of California soon, am I still a legal resident next year?
