statement on research

If you did the optional statement on research for the supplement, how long was it?

I uploaded 2 of my abstracts into that space. It took up approximately 2 pages.

Same here. I uploaded one on the area specified and then added the other one in the space on the common app where they ask you to add any supplemental material

i did 3 summers of lab work during high school, but my work was part of an ongoing project so I didn't have a paper to submit for my app. In lew of a paper, I submitted a short description (basically an abstract) of the goals of the study and my role in it.

Mine came to around a page... I just wrote about what I did, why I chose to take up that particular research and what the results of the research really meant!

The common app said that you can enter info in one or the other, but it wouldn't submit both. I'd be worried.

Anyway, I made a historical documentary outside of school (lots of primary sources and in-person interviews) so I pretty much wrote an abstract just for the application; it turned out to be a little less than a page and a half double-spaced. My rule is that nothing in the application that you type yourself should be longer than your main essay.
